Hi,

I'm super new to this site so if I'm going about this the wrong way or posting in the wrong places I'm really sorry!
But from what I've seen and read on here there seems to be an amazing source of knowledge, help and support from you guys.
I really hope someone can help.

Have had Crohns since I was tiny and have come in and out of remission more times than I care to count and am currently in a bad flare but symptoms are diffferent to what I call the norm.

- lost a tonne of weight - no appetite - constant nausea - vomiting - diah - cramped knot of a belly - sharp sudden spasms in my left belly - aching hands and feet - fatigue - really sore dry eyes - dizzy

Gastro had me have a endo and colonospy (again) but the results have left me a but confused - can anyone explain what the following means for me and what I can expect to happen next:

ENDO
erythematous gastris
exudative gastritis
(both in the upper and lower stomach)
COLO
Multiple small ulcers in caecum
apthous ulcers in terminal ileum

I'm not due to see him for review for a week (pending biopsies and test results), I feel awful and a little scared.

Any light someone could shed?

Thanks so much
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Sorry to hear about your problems. Well, I think you have some kind of inflammation in your stomach as well as ulcers in your TI. I'd wait for the biopsy results and hope they can determine what has caused those changes. If they can't isolate anything then you'll have to talk to your GI about A treatment, but it will be a hit-and-miss thing I think.

P.S.
Whereabouts do you live? I'm going for my op next wed and am getting really anxious now. They'll do me in Harrow. Grrr.....:ybatty:

Hi Kelly,

Basically erythematus means redness and roughness, gastritis is inflammation of gastric area which is usually used to identify the stomach. Exudate could be signs of infection as the area is weeping or oozing something.

The caecum is the large bowel area that meets the terminal ileum. So you have several small ulcers in the caecum. Apthous ulcers are the type that crohns patients develop - the most common place being the mouth. They are crater like and can be quite painful. Does that help any?? If you are not on any treatment then they may be talking to you about what they feel is most appropriate given your own personal history and also what they feel will work most effectively given current research and successes they have had.

Wish I could give you better news honey. Thinking of you. ((hugs))
