Now days it seems like most doctors want to treat you and then get you out the door.I thought it would be nice to talk about doctors that actually care like maybe our Gastroenterologists.Mine seems to actually be concerned with how I'm doing and sees me as more then money in his pocket.I was like 3 minutes late to an appointment with him once and he had people calling my house to make sure I was ok and not back in the hospital.Everytime I come in or leave he shakes my hand(I think thats pretty nice of him) and just little things he does makes it seem that he truly has compassion for his patients.I hope other people have a doctor that actually makes them feel like this.

One thing my GI group does that impresses me, makes me feel important, is the doctors themselves come out to call the patient in. Isn't that cool? No assistant messing up your pronunciation (try having Cara -- it's Care-uh not Car-uh) and forget my last name (Foo-see-not-oh). Anyway, it's cool the doctor has your file in his hand and then comes out into the waiting room and calls you in. LOVE IT!

Mine takes the time to answer my 500000 questions and when I tell him about all the extra stuff I'm taking he thinks about it looks to see if any of it might harm me and then okays it and trusts my judgement... Plus he has tons of experince so he hasn't gone through this personally but he has seen EVERYTHING so he is more than used to dealing with all the problems a crohn's patient has and even all the problems a crohn's patient has due to the meds... He is a very busy doctor though so it can be hard to contact him but he always makes sure he gets a messege back to you if he doesn't have time then... I just hope he doesn't work himself to death... He cares for his patients a lot...

I agree with GNC Crohns Man.

Mine takes the time to look at the digestive enzymes, probiotics, everything extra I take and takes a note of them, so if my symtomss chance....he can more easily pinpoint what is helping and what isnt.

Mine usually even likes me, or prefer for me to make my appointments around 4 or 4:30 so that he can have me as his last patient and spend timew ith me. I've been in there with him easy for two hours easy.

He's very caring. Used to do colonoscopies for free, writing them off, Just like my surgeon has dont resections for free, writing them off.

My GI and Surgeon are very busy also, having privelages at all 3 local hospitals and the practice, plus doing procedures at each hospital, plus the office, plus a few diagnostic places...He always calls me back, if I have a problem he usually call me within the hour and thats if hes behind and being slow. I think its because he knows my case, knows how serious I can get and how quickly. He's transferred me to a University hospital about an hour and a half away once just because he was going out of the country for a month and didnt want someone un-able to handle my case, treating me. He's very thoughtful, and I talk to him on the phone many times a month.

I wish everyone had dr's that cared as much as mine do.
