I can't be the only one who does it via this way, but I look at EVERY result in the tiolet (or miscellaneous container, trash can, bucket, or front yard I go in)...and closely....I'm rather sick of doing it, but it's always a chance for redemption (am I doing better yet?)...this is how I knew I had any mucous or blood, or Asacol shells, etc...

Is it not visible? To be honest, it basically looks like nasal mucous if you're unsure of its appearance. I think its pretty standard to even look at the toilet paper afterwards, for Crohns or healthy people, otherwise, how else do you know when to stop wiping?

true.. i didnt think of it that way

well.. i dont want to go into detail but is it yellowy? cos if it is then maybe i have cos i havent eaten sweetcorn or anything yellow in quite a while

ive got so much to learn yet :)

I'm guessing the color can vary just like stool's can, so I'm betting that the consistency is better to use as a gauge rather than the color, but color should help still...basically I looked for "butt snot", to be graphic. :well:

Yep... I always examine the contents of the bowl and what's on the paper. The good side is... if it looks pretty "normal" you get to feel like the king (or queen?) of the world until your next passage. Unfortunately, with me the mucous always seems mixed up with blood (which always seems worse than just blood), but luckily that doesn't happen very often.

ahh right. thank you. i always have like oil droplets floating at the top of the water when i go

i will have to start keeping an eye on it all to be sure :)

thank you

Some people bleed and others don't. I think it has more to do with where the disease is rather than the severity of it.

I don't get mucous or blood. I thought mine was mild and wouldn't need much meds, but then my Asacol and Rowasa failed and I had to be put on Entocort and Azulfadine. Sometimes I think your body gets use to the meds and then they don't work anymore.

what are the tablets we on actually doing?? and what happens if we dont take the tablets?? any one know what we do if we miss some tablets by accident? gee im sorry if im getting annoying. my GP really does not tell me a thing.

My doc said I can't miss any tablets. What meds are you on? Most are to get the inflammation down. Inflammation = narrowing = pain and causes diarrhea. Most of my meds say to take as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose. Mine all say not to take 2 doses at once.

Seems many people who have felt better and stopped taking their meds have sooner or later ended up flaring really bad. Some meds are for maintenance...to keep inflammation down.
