Hey,
Since I can remember I have suffered with bad diarehha, obviously I have times when it is worse etc, but I can't remember a day that I haven't had it. Also I get very bad wind, which can be rather embarassing especially whilst at work. I suffer with this even when I don't have a flare, which I find frustrating. Is this the same with everyone? Not ever knowing anyone with Crohns before I have never really known if this is the norm. Let me know your views.

Hi there, yes! Most people do have Diahreah and some can control it with applesauce and banana's (2 good and natural binders) however after my second surgery I used Questran/Cholestyramine, it works for many and this could be something to bring up to your doctor. No one should have to suffer that way. You take the packettes according to the amount of bowel moments and make take a week or so but it worked for me. Check it out.

Hi Pen,
Thanks for response, my nutrisonist said to me about bananas, being have them a few times a week but going to try and have one a day and see if that helps. When you say apple sauce? Do you mean a spoonful of it?? Never heard of that treatment before will bring this up with the doc and see what he says. I also take immodium but don't really like relying on that.
Cheers jo x

My nutritionist mentioned to me, it was news to me and it works. About a cup a day, best without sugar. Hope it helps.

Just had a look on the net, and says it also treats Cholesterol. Going to book to see my doc tomorrow and discuss this, cross fingers this will help stop the diarreha every 5 minutes.
Thanks again, appreciated x

I have always had very bad gas, since long before my crohn's diagnosis. I used to find it incredibly embarrassing. However, since I have not been feeling well, I haven't been able to fart unless I'm no the toilet. I would go back to farting all of the time in a heartbeat. As to the diarrhea, I'm still working on that myself. I hope you find something that helps.

Hi Jo

ask about Codeine Phosphate, they gave it to me in hospital, your D will stop immediately. but also bear in mind, this drug is habit forming and can be addictive. I only take it when absolutely neccessary, ie when I'm going 15 times a day and I have a 'ring of fire' and can't cope anymore!
This drug also makes you drowsy, I took it when I had bad insomnia with high doses of Pred, worked a treat!

Thanks Joan will take this into consideration. I struggle when out in public or round a friends for a bbq and I have to keep going to the toilet, all very embarrassing, so maybe could just take this when I know I am going to be out for long periods of time will speak to my doc. Thank you xx
