I was wondering if anybody might know. I've noticed within the last week when I go I end up dripping blood. Yes, I know there's fizzures along with it but the blood is also dripping from me as well. Is this something in regulation to the pred that I'm taking? I don't remember this from the past times on pred if so.

Last weekend my husband and I had some pretty spicy homemade chili that messed me up and I wondered if that might be the cause of it. But, a week later and this is still happening makes me wonder. Should I be concerned? Thanks for your help.

Did some research after this posting last night before bed. It's looking more and more of a possibility of a hemorrhoid. So, I guess we'll get ahold of some over the counter stuff from the store today to try. If it decides not to get much better will contact the doctor.

I would contact the Dr anyway. Hemi's dont drip blood. They spot more than drip. (well, in my experience)

If its new to you best get it checked out.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Let us know how you get on hun.
Xxxxxxxxxx

Will do. As frusterated as I've been with my GI haven't wanted to talk to her more than need be. But, might not be a bad thing to contact her. Keep ya updated. Xxxx

Emailed the dr but it was after the office had closed that they called back and left a message. So, will need to call them back tomorrow. Will see what they have to say. Lately, all my dr's been suggesting is injections which I'm not so sure about starting. But, trying to keep an open mind. Will hopefully have more info tomorrow.

Called the dr back and was put on hold for awhile. Then, instead of transferring me to a nurse it sent me to voicemail. So, I left a message and they said that they'd return to me within the next buisness day. So, at least I tried. I guess since they're taking their time getting back to me I'm gonna lay down for awhile. Gotta work tonight and am closing anyway (might as well be rested up). Will let you know if I hear anything.

Fingers crossed they get back to you. If they don't phone them again.
Don't be put off. Xxxxxxxxxx

Well...they hadn't called me so I called a second time. This time I got somebody and they were leaving a message for my doctor's nurse. Said that someone would be calling me back. But, no cigar so far. Leaving for work within about 1/2 hour. So, we'll see. Office closes in a little less than 15 min.

Doctor's office finally called about 5:30pm and talked for a few minutes. Then, concurred with my doctor and called me back just before work. So, I'm to increase my asacol from 6 pills a day to 9 and decrease the pred from 40mg to 30mg for 2 weeks and then keep decreasing it 5mg every 2 weeks. On top of that, I'm to keep them informed as to how I'm doing. Since I have no D for the most part they're not having me do the canasa suppositories that they first suggested.

Doesn't sound like much help to me. But, I'm willing to comply and see what it does.

I agree. But, unfortunately the only thing that my doctor has lately suggested is remicade and humira which are really expensive to try. Especially since she's admitted that she's not even sure if they'd work:(

Yeah, we tried the aza and she took me off it because my liver count was too high. But, I think at the time I was also on too much meds. We are going to try the aza again though. Just waiting for the time to start taking it again. It actually did start working pretty good though before I was yanked off it...

Well...took 30mg of the pred already today instead of the 40mg. As much as I like the weight it's helped put back on me I think I'm gonna look forward to not being so wide awake at nights...

All I can say is: here we go:)

Dripped blood again tonight. But, this time it happened at work. Been a couple of days since I've gone so I'm not complaining. Don't mind a little time off between times for my poor sore rear. But, I'm being a good girl and taking my 9 pills a day of asacol and am going down slowly on the pred...

Sounds like you might need.....a butt facial!! In other peoples terms it is a foam that you spray up yer bum. Can be pred, can be mesalazine.

Can you check into that?

 I think they would call it pred foam or mesalazine foam. I dont know that they have the sense of humour I have or you have!!! But whatever you do, DONT let them give you the horse pills you shove up there. I walked like a duck for DAYS. Seriously!

Aw I remember foamy butt facials!!
And also the horse pills!! Had them last weeks. Still can't walk right!

I've got some of that stuff here at home. Yup, I've delt with the horse pills a few times. Friday when we were playing phone tag the dr was debating having me do those again. Thankfully it ended up being a no:) Last time I had the canasa I made sure to let her know that it was a literal pain in the rear:)

All jokes aside. Plan on asking my pharmacy friends at work if the butt facials I've got at home might benefit me. Will have to use the term and see if I can confuse them:) Gotta try to catch them today since I'm not sure if they'll be open tomorrow for Memorial Day. Hate those enemas but, why not if they do happen to help....

Just FYI, humira has a financial assistance program. The loading doses were $5 on the program. Good luck and I hope you heal up quickly.

Did alright at work today. Talked to someone in the pharmacy (not my regular person) and they basically said that by using the butt facial would be doing the same thing the asacol's doing now. So, I don't know. Will talk with my husband about the info shared with me about the humira Chuck78. I was also given a private message about the same thing. Gotta wait to talk to him though cause he's working an all nighter. Thanks for the info though! Healing is one thing we all strive for though:) It's really nice talking with people going through the same thing.

Aw Lisa.
Its bad enough when it happens at home but when you aare out its even worse.
Hope you can get something sorted soon.
Take care sweet Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yeah, it's happened twice now at work. But, what can you do? I'm blessed to have people there who I can just call on to keep a watch on my register while I'm gone. Last few nights it's been fairly calm thankgoodness. So, there hasn't been a problem the couple of times it's happened. Definately looking forward to getting things figured out just like you. Got the next 3 days off and am looking forward to them:)
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well. These times are starting to be mostly every other day/night. We were wondering at one point if I might not be getting enough fiber. So, been having an apple without the peel once a day. It hasn't hurt me, although it hasn't helped with the pain of going either. Tonight I got some bright green stuff along with the dark stuff and dripping blood. I think it's about time for my favorite nursery rhyme:)

Blood, Blood go away!
But, instead of coming back another day you can stay away!!!!!!!!

No blood dripper today:) Still had a painful bm and wiped blood though. But, I'm not getting terribly excited yet because there's a whole day ahead of me. At least it's a start though...

Had a bm 6/2 but couldn't tell which end the blood was coming from. Girl time decided to come! Wasn't much there, but I'm not worried. Just gotta take it as it comes:) At least it's better than it has been...

Well...fun run to the bathroom at work. Gotta love blood coming out of two ends, the joys of being a woman. Plus, a bit of painful bm with the sore rear afterwards. Oh well. At least it doesn't seem to be happening every time anymore...

Surprisingly no blood dripper tonight:) But, did have a painful bm. We've been having quite the evening tonight. There are 8 chicken campers in our dining room tonight. The 3 older ones are going away tomorrow to a guy from my husband's work who will eventually eat them. The 5 younger ones will be occupying the outside henhouse as of tomorrow night. So, tomorrow evening we will have a pretty quiet house with no little campers anymore. Btw, it's even more exciting right now because the 3 that are going away have been trying hard to escape from their boxes and we've been hardput to keep them calm.

Maybe the campers know what's in store for them!

Good news on the no drip but not so much for the painful bm. Have you got active disease there?

Hope all goes good with the campers today. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks, we'll need all the hope/help with the campers that we can get! Especially when we're woken up early in the morning by all 8 of them:) I'm sure it'll be quite the show...

Still seeing blood in the bms but, at least no dripping tonight. Wouldn't be surprised if there's active disease around there. But, don't know exactly, just know that there are quite a few spots in my small intestine that are infected. Gotta go from 30mg to 25mg on the pred on sat so we'll see. :yrolleyes:Have you had any luck with your doctors yet? Hope so. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:hug:

Got a blood dripper today:stinks: At least it seems to be pretty much every other time now. Am supposed to update the doctor on how I'm doing. But, last time I did that I spent a long time on the phone for no real reason. What was done on the phone easily could have been done by email. Oh well. Gotta check on the little ones & head for work soon. Let's see if I can run between the raindrops. Already became a drowned rat once this afternoon.

Still dripping blood. Dripped blood yesterday, but at least didn't fill the toilet. Haven't gotten a good sleep last 3 nights. In fact, I'm up now while I should be sleeping. Have a really bad headache. Sad part is I don't know if it's from this cold I've got that's going around, or from going down on the pred. Reduced my pred sat 6/9 from 30mg to 25mg.

If you're having internal bleeding you could be having anemia issues and that can cause headaches too. It seems like you really need to find someone who can help you get this under control before it become a serious problem. So sorry for you. Sounds miserable. The only times I have had blood in the bathroom I've had bleeding ulcers and fissures. Your body is definitely saying something is not right to you. Has it actually gotten better? Or just plateaued at every other day? Have you considered doing a liquid diet for even a couple of days to given your intestines and bum a little break?

Phoned the advice nurse this morning. Started out with regular advice nurse and then got transferred to the gi dept. Waiting to hear back from the doctor. So far they want me to take a stool softener to alleviate the straining, a couple of sitz baths a day for the bottom, tylenol for the headache and sudafed & mucolex for the cold. On top of that I got told to rest and drink lots of fluids. I swear, one of these days I could become a walk in pharmacy!

I for one am hoping they get you in to see the GI. Way too much bleeding going on! And a cold on top of it. Urgh!

I agree. I mean it sounds like the doctor's office is of the frame of mind that it is something of the fissure/hemorrhoid nature that they think the stool softener will help. I am a little skeptical with the amount of bleeding you seem to be doing and surprised that they don't want to take a look at it in the office. When I had a fissure the doctor found it examining me (prior to diagnosis but while I was there complaining of lots of blood in the toilet) and he gave me some kind of cream, which I knew wasn't going to cut it because I knew my levels of bleeding were not coming from some little anal fissure.

Only you know your body though. If you have any skepticism, be persistent to be checked out. I had to fight my doctor for my intial colonoscopy, and had to get my mom on board by showing her an 'evacuation' (I was 18- so the doc wouldn't take me seriously on my own). That's when they found about 50 bleeding ulcers in my colon.

They got back to me and told me to use anusol suppositories one a night for hemorrhoid bleeding on top everything above. I asked them if I should be worried about being anemic and they said no my last blood test looked fine but that was a bit ago. But, to let them know if the sitz baths and such doesn't work.

I agree with you guys, but all I can do is try it for now. Thankfully today is my friday and I have 3 days off. Am definately looking forward to them too! Don't work till 6pm tonight so am gonna lay down and see if I can sleep a bit. Husband and I are gonna have a talk about this tonight when we both get home from work. Thanks for the reassurance:) at least with you here I know my gripes aren't all wrong!

Sounds like that is headed in the right direction! I know, I love this forum. A lot. Do update in a few days as to how you are doing. Lucky you that today is your Friday...Monday's are my kryptonite. Enjoy your days off and rest up!!

Yes, been really thankful for you guys:) Especially this time around with this flare of mine. You bet ya I'll keep you updated. Take care everybody! Xxxxxxxxxxx :hug:

Slept better last night than I have in a few nights. Also got in a little bit of a nap today although, my neighbor dogs keep waking me up. Been tempted to offer them chocolate or feed them to some needy person just to shut them up! Especially when they've been waking me up at 7:30 or 8am.:ymad:

Still got the headache. But, didn't go at all yesterday. Did get some wonderful nosy and smelly gas though and sometimes a little discharge with it along with a still sore bottom. :stinks: Wondering if that might be effects from the stool softener. Was a good girl though yesterday and did everything the doctor wanted except the sitz baths. Haven't started on drinking my fluids yet today but will do eventually. Will update you more later. Xxxxxxxxx:hug:

Had a BM for the first time since taking this concoction of drugs monday night. Passed blood, dripped blood and had a hard time getting off the pot. A bit sore now too. But, can't complain too much though for not going for a couple of days.

Headache is getting better and actually pretty much going away sometimes. Starting to feel a little better cold wise too.

Put the chicks in their own house and locked them up last thur and let them out tue. Had a hard time getting them to go into their own house last night. They wanted to come into our house to spend the night instead. Tonight we'll see if they actually made it to their own house before dark. They are adjusting really well to spending all day outside though and are loving all the worms, bugs, grass and everything they can get their beaks on. Xxxxxxx

Your chickens certainly keep you occupied and entertained. Wish I could have a few laying hens. So glad you had a BM. But this blood thing really needs looked into. You're flaring it sounds like and dont let it get out of hand.

Yeah, I know where you're going and wish it were that easy to be seen. But, it's hard to see a doctor that won't listen/do much. Gotta admit that when I called the regular advice nurse she told me to call her back if I didn't get satisfactory help. First time I've been offered that with this insurance. Just figured I'd try what the doctor suggested before anything else...

I've got to update them on monday to see how I'm doing. By then it'll be a week since I called and a week since I started the additional concoction of over the counter drugs along with the increased asacol. XXXXX

Yeah, the chicks are sweet:) But, how adorable are they when you hear them coming out of the hen house about 5-5:30am flying out of there, chirping and eating bugs off our house? Especially when you're hoping to find them in their own house at night, but end up physically putting all 5 of them in the hen house because they're all huddled up next to our house right outside the deck door?

Bless em! They are lonely. Send them loving comforting thoughts out there at night. (I'm not kidding...they'll get the message)

And yes, I am glad you are updating the med team. Are you keeping a log? (obviously the paper kind :ylol2:)

We've been told that it takes about a week for them to get used to staying in their own house at night. We only unlocked them from their house on tuesday. So, it hasn't been a week yet.

Haven't kept a log. But, doesn't sound like a bad idea. Tell my husband though that I've got to keep my big sisters on the forum updated so they don't worry!

Started keeping a log as of this last monday. Didn't go at all yesterday, but lots of gas along with some yellow discharge. Never had the yellow discharge until using the hemrrhoid suppositories. So, wondering if that might be the cause.

Already gone once today with the normal stuff that's been happening. Not gonna wait till monday to email doctors but will email tomorrow night.

I think thats a good idea, emailing. And phoning. Think you've been having trouble more than long enough!

Thanks for the idea of the log Misty:) Mentioned you're idea to my husband and he thought it a great idea too. Kinda helps with looking at the detailed thing before asking what the heck is wrong with me! I agree that I've been dealing with this way too long. Just been so frusterated with the medical dept. Will email first and see where it gets me. Sure wish I could be threatened better though. Would have been: cheaper, faster and easier! Xxxxxxx:hug:

Wrote the doctor tonight. Or, actually my husband did it for me. Was really straight forward about symptoms and such. Not doing this to be polite, we've both had enough. We'll see what kind of response we get in the morning. Update you later. Xxxxxxxxxx

Yeah, I dont think it's a hemy either. Not with the amount of blood. I really hope they get you in ASAP. I'd follow up that email with some phone calls as well.

Well, it's hard to say... I've had bleeding due to ruptured hemorrhoid, anal fissure and most recently internal. If the hemorrhoid ruptured, it could continue to bleed if it keep reopening. Whatever has caused the bleeding may take some time to heal up. If this has been going on for a week, it sounds to me like you need to be examined, ASAP! Don't let the doctor's office put you off... I'd make an appointment or go to an urgent care clinic. Hope you figure it out soon!

Received an email from the doctor. Reason why my husband wrote last night was because my hand had been shaking so bad that he was not happy. She said nothing about the blood. All she mentioned was that the shaking more than likely is caused by the prednisone and to taper off it slowly. I shot her an email back telling her that I already am tapering off the pred as suggested! This sat 6/23 I go down from 25mg to 20mg!

Btw, I printed off the email between her and I to show my husband tonight when he gets home! Thankfully today is our friday. I am not a happy camper!:ymad:

Do you think if I start screaming she might hear me from home? After all, she hasn't been listening very well by phone or email. Oh yeah, the doctor's office is across the river from me! Hmm I wonder how far my voice might carry...

Never got an answer back from the doctor after I sent the second email. Have the next 3 days off. Planning on one of them stopping by one of the clinics to talk to membership and talking with them face to face calmly asking them how to get a second opinion. Might be easier than continuing on trying to get a satisfactory reply.

Went in and talked with member services. Never knew it could be so easy to get a second opinion or would have done it earlier. Tried calling today for an appt but they were closed so will try again tomorrow.

Looked on their website and other than my doctor there's only one other one that's been with the company I see since the 90's. Everyone else at this clinic has come since 2000. So, more than likely I'll be able to see someone a little newer for my second opinion:)

Ahhh good luck!! I always feel like if any one of us can have a victory or find some relief that it feels like a victory for everyone. It's sad when just having an appointment can be a source of excitement.

Thanks everybody for all your support in this:) Even though I haven't posted about it, I'm still passing and dripping blood. But, I'm also putting it into my computer log that I plan on taking with me to this new doctor. You will know how the appt goes though so please don't worry:wink:Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx:hug:
