Hi all

So new to all of this and everyday seems to bring 100 more questions!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of sulphasalazine turning BM mucous bright yellow or if I'm looking at something else. He's on metronidazole (3xday) for keeping symptoms (blood in stools) at bay.

He's been on sulfasalazine for 3 months and I can't recall this happening before

Thanks in advance.

Grace would get that when her stool wasn't green. The GI said transit time was to fast and that's why that color. You should call the GI and inform them and ask about adding fiber perhaps to slow things down.

My son is on sulfasalazine but he does not get yellow BMs. He does however get bright yellow urine but I think that is from the vitamin B2 that he takes.

My daughter is also on sulfasalazine, but it has never changed the colour of her bms. Has he eaten anything different? Any vitamins? I would call the GI and let them know.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but it might warrant a test for C. diff, especially given that he is on antibiotics.

Thanks everyone, I had only spoken to the GI yesterday and completely forgot to mention it! Must start making a list.

He generally does have a fast transit time and is on vitamins! The sulphasalazine has made his wee bright yellow but this is new for his BMs, although I do feel we're moving thought the colour spectrum! Red, yellow, green......wouldn't surprise me one bit if I changed his nappy at the moment and it was blue!!!! :)

Yup:rosette1:, Grace has pooped, brown, balck, red, green, yellow, white and even orange. The rainbow we call it here!
