Greetings


I have CD 4 years ago and I'm in remission 2 years ago . I'm taking Imuran+ Asacol .I have read there is an interaction between ASACOL and IMURAN in some websites .

Is there anyone who takes these two medications together ? Is what I have read proved ?

I wouldn't be concerned. I was on Lialda (a different form of mesalamine similar to asacol)and Imuran with no issues. Asacol and Imuran is a very common combo. I believe there is a theoretically increase risk of blood disorders but it is very small and you have blood work done regularly so you would catch it quickly if anything happened.

I've been on both for about seven years now with no ill effects. I have a blood test every three months but no issues have arisen. I'm now tapering off the Imuran. My view is that if it keeps the crohns at bay then it's a good thing, then deal with side effects as they arise.
