hey all hope everyone is as good as they can be :) i am due these two tests on saturday and took the first lot of 5 senna tablets last night im still inflamed i can blatantly tell i am due to looking at my stomach and upper body and i still have blood loss, does anyone know if the procedure can still be done with the inflamation etc? and also is it safe to take the prep when i still have blood loss? this is my first time so new to all of this :shifty:

Hi Dan, the prep should be fine, unless you have a really good going colitis, then they should do a flexi-sig unprepped instead. Be aware that when you prep and there is some blood in the bowel, it can all come out red, looks like major bleeding when it's not.

Both procedures can be done in the setting of inflammation, however, there is an increased risk of perforation doing a colonoscopy on someone with severe colitis, in that setting, should limit procedure to a flexi-sig.

Good luck.

hey aussie thanks for the reply i had a flexi-sig about 2 weeks ago now and he said i was really inflammed and put me on a course of steroids for 2 weeks and then i came off them a week and a half ago now and symptoms have slowly come back but if i know its ok to still prep and that the procedure will be ok thats cool.
Thankyou :)

well i had my colonoscopy and gastroscopy on saturday and the surgeon found nothing in my colon and from what i gather nothing down my throat end either i have had several biopsies done and now i have to await the results he said my inflamation as gone down and that everything looks normal, i still display symptoms blood and mucus in stools although i know this could be from the biopsies but i was displaying this also prior to the procedure so im a bit lost really i dont understand that nothing showed up i mean the blood must be coming from somewhere? the plus side the procedure wasnt so bad i had gas and air but asked not to have the sedation and all was ok apart from a little discomfort, also i have notice one half of my body looks quite swollen in some ways when i breath in i can see that one side of my ribs pertrude alot more than the other side probably by a ince so still none the wiser and will await my biopsy results
