Has anyone tried putting a healthy person's stool in a capsule and swallowing it? Does it alleviate your crohn's symptoms?

What you are talking about is an uncontrolled, do-it-yourself fecal transplant. There is a lengthy full discussion on this topic: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=52400

There is a lot of interest and research in this area, however I do not recommend you try this at home. There are way too many unknowns and variables to attempt this in an uncontrolled way.

I understand this was a honest question and I am familiar with fecal transplant but I am laughing at this crazy disease. What other condition would actually have someone consider eating poop? and NOT just poop but SOMEONE else's poop. It is humorous in a very dark sort of way.

Clostridium difficile (AKA "C. diff.") infection is also treated with fecal transplant. In fact they've had more success treating C. diff with fecal transplant than perhaps any other disease. The main symptom of C. diff infection is constant, intractable diarrhea. Which sounds a lot like some cases of IBD, although C. diff does not produce the lasting damage to the gut that IBD does. But clearly, chronic diarrhea is a challenging enough symptom that outlandish-sounding therapies such as fecal transplant are readily embraced by sufferers.

BTW, C. diff is definitely aptly named. "Difficile" is French for "difficult."
