Lately ive been experiencing this...the moment i eat, i feel my guts starting to move the food down and what Im also guessing the processed food that is already out, the gut starts to move it...well, out! so most of the time my eating is interrupted by a bathroom visit (#2)....

Im afraid to eat! this is ridiculous. Does it have anything to do with a flare up/? my surgery?

I know the feeling! It sucks. Take one bite of food and you feel like you have to jet to the bathroom right away! It is probably because of a flare, but I am not sure. I have pretty much always been like that since my diagnosis 11 years ago. Crazy!

Keep eating! I know it sucks, and it causes you to not want to eat, but I think the anxiety of it will pass. I hope that it doesn't keep up like that for you for long.

Yup, pretty normal thing for me... although the past few years I have noticed that I have this urge WHILE I am making supper.... like the smell of the food gets my digestive system going.... usually have to ask hubby to watch supper for me for a minute or two... then I can eat in peace!

When I'm not flaring it happens but not badly.. so I can finish my meal first..... but if I'm flaring badly it's impossible! I also had the same with cooking, but I don't get that all the time.

I do that with smells sometime too! Especially if I'm somewhere that they deep fry a lot of stuff. I can walk into a restaurant, smell that and automatically have to go. It's so weird! I tried to explain that smells sometimes make me have to go to my husband, and I think he thought I was crazy!

When I am having a flare I often take just one bight and then have to go lay on my bed until my gut uncramps itself. A lot of times passing gas is all that I need to do to feel better. Sometimes I don't even have to take a bight, just the smell alone gets me. Especially if I am really hungry or the food is something I really like. How cruel of this stupid disease huh? Anyway I usually can then come back finish my meal OK.

Hey guys, yesterday I went out to walgreens and bought some "Gas-X" which helps reduce bloating and gases...i dont know how i didnt think of this earlier...Our problem relies in the fact that we produce a lot of gas and often have inflamed intestinal walls which narrow out the gas flow causing cramps and pain...with GAS-X the gas is highly reduce and today I havent had stomach cramps and no bathroom urges after eating...gas often tries to push the waste out as well...so i guess this explains why i been under control.

its pretty good, i too 2 pills after breakfast and 2 after lunch....so far so good!

yep...when I was flaring, sometimes the smell of food would start it - or as soon as I started eating.......

This goes for me and the smells of nearly ANYTHING strong! Candles and perfumes are the worst on my stomach. I get strange looks, too when I try to explain this to those close to me...like I've said before, It's like an intestinal migraine. Loud noises, strong smells and anything else overwhelming will get my gut going!

Love the gas-x idea...have tried it before but willing to try again in search of something to lessen the pain!! *fingers crossed*

I would say I'm basically in remission but I almost always have to go to the bathroom after I eat. Good times!

It happens to me more so around ovulation. I get D and have to go. since i've been on pentasa it's gotten better!

Sounds like this happens to almost all of us! I have this too, often have to leave the break room in the middle of lunch... I almost always sit on the end of the booth if we are in a restaurant so I can get out quickly!
And gas-x--I wish I had invented it. I carry some with me at all times. And I have found the store brand works just as well as the brand name stuff.

I haven't tried it but my primary suggested mylocon drops (the gas drops for babies). Perhaps that could help?

This could mean a couple things:

1) You are in a flare and it might be your small intestines that are inflamed (or elsewhere

2) You are eating foods that don't agree with you

3) You may be having malabsorbsion which would be check by testing the fats in your stool samples - meaning you might have to go on a low resadue diet

4) If you are drinking any drinks with your food that has a osmosity(sp) level higher than 300 its just dumping and taking your food a long with it.

Either way you should start losing weight as it sounds like you are not aving enough time to digest/absorb all your food and I would strongly advise you to go see your GI for some testing - ct of abdomen, scope, ect to see where the problem lie before it gets worse.

Wish ya the best of luck bud.
