Ok, so today is day 8 of no BMS!! I went to ER last night, as per my GP, and they did CT....no obstruction, just full of crap!! Literaly....well yea I new that. So they gave me instructions for GoLytly and told me to keep my appt with GI today. So this morning....I did the mag citrate and an enema....and the enema cleared some out....but nothing to really speak of. Still no sign of a BM. Saw GI and he said do another enema, and drink 1/4 of prep...and repeat in AM....if still nothing...call him back. Then what?? Ive taken so much laxative in the last 72 hours, I feel awful, if I drink anything else....Im gona puke.... have no room for anything else to go in without it coming out. Im miserable, the cramping is terrible. Whats going on....any ideas??? Any recomendatations.....this is a bit rediculous.....and Im so over it. :confused2:

Holy crap, literally! It has to come out sooner or later, right???

I hope things start to move thru. Did he say what he would do if there was nothing by tomorrow morning????

Good luck! -amy

Last time I went to the ER for what wound up being extreme constipation, they had me take a full bottle of mag citrate, stool softeners, and I believe another pill laxative. It worked for me. Painfully, of course.

New here but thought I should say something about this if you dont know Opiates are constipating, xanax is an opiate, might want to avoid any opiates for a few days...sorry

Xanax is NOT an opiate, it is a benzodiazepine, and you should NOT stop taking it without doctor's orders (I'm sure you knew this Bev, but I had to write it just in case!)

PS Bev- Hope you poop soon!

Less serious Xanax side effects may include:

*

drowsiness, dizziness, feeling irritable;
*

amnesia or forgetfulness, trouble concentrating;
*

sleep problems (insomnia);
*

muscle weakness, lack of balance or coordination, slurred speech;
*

blurred vision;
*

nausea, vomiting, constipation, appetite or weight changes;
*

dry or watery mouth, increased sweating; or
*

loss of interest sex
drugs com xanax

I know this first hand, and if you are taking it as needed it should not hurt to avoid it a couple of days to see if it gets you moving.

I never said constipation wasn't a side effect (though most drugs will have it listed as a potential side effect, doesn't mean everyone will experience it though). I was merely pointing out that your post earlier was factually incorrect. And I would not start or stop taking any medication without checking with a doctor or pharmacist. I even check things like over the counter cough medicine!

Finally went, and spent hours in the loo. After all the compacted stuff passed, I started having soft stool....which was thin and narrow. Then followed by a bunch of bloody D. Yay, finally some relief, but OMG....Im one tired person. After a traumatizing time on the toilet, my body got shocky. I had the shakes really bad, my body temp started going hay wire and became dizzy and fatiqued. I took some pain meds, nausea meds and went to sleep. No stools today....I doubt I have anything to pass. Feeling better, just a really sore bum. Thanks for all your thoughts~

Well I hope that's you all sorted now, and you have normal BMs again soon. Make sure you stay hydrated because you will have lost a lot of fluid during your poop fest. And get some cream on your bum!

Glad to hear you are through this...I would be surprised if you were not exhausted!!! Rest and be well...or try to anyhow.
