Well I really never expected to ever need surgery but over the past 20 days I was brought in by ambulance to the Emergency room for severe pain. Once I was sent home after being given narcotics for pain and tests run. the second time I was admitted for 2 days and again sent home with medication for pain and more tests. but the last visit to emergency on Fe. 15th ended me being admitted with a severe obstruction. The bottom line is this surgery saved my life. I ended up having surgery the next day after being prepped I was told by my surgeon that I had a knotted intestine at the end of the intestine that was so knotted and twisted he did not even know how liquids had gone thru. And it was attached to my stomach. So I signed up for the exploratory surgery and that was then. I have since now been home since the 21st and healing amazingly. And the most wonderful thing is that when they took out the diseased area it was all located in a very small area and so all the crohns diseased part is out of my body. I am so thankful. After a short time on Entocort I will not need drugs and can now eat freely without pain and worry. I will maintain my vegan diet as they say that is what probably kept it so localized and benign thank you go.

That is so great that you feel better and on the road to recovery. I too had blockages and one time too many led to my first laproscopic surgery. The second surgery there was only one blockage and the pain was so unreal and said, I wanted a second resection. Botched as it was, terrible surgery. I have had many flares but knock on wood no blockages. They are my worst night mare. I am surprised as you say after Entocort you wont need any more drugs? I continued for 7 years after on one entocort, because there is no cure. If you can control it Kudo's too you. Hope you heal and get the rest you need!

Hi Sunny - That is great news! You must feel tons better!

Hope your recovery continues to go smoothly - Amy

I am happy that your surgery went well. I have had a partial blockage before and that pain was .....undescribable. I went in screaming and crying in pain. Thankfully the NG tube worked. That is good that you had a good surgeon there at the hospital. The only thing that is concerning is with a resection...it might not be (like pen mentioned) a bad idea to be on maintenance meds. I was told in the area it once was it has a high percentage of reoccuring in the area and comes back. Not a blockage perse but any kind of active disease.

The med plan is to take me off entocort and then I may be on Pentaa for awhile. But I know the pain is like nothing you can describe. Let's all be well

Hey Sunny

You've had a hell of a time there, god love you. Hoping you make a speedy recovery, take it easy though. Hugs.
