I was prescribed pred enemas twice daily a couple days ago but I've been so all over the place with this flare up that I haven't taken any, I went to take one there and noticed I have a small sore or spot/pimple or something right beside my rectum so it was really sore to put the nozzle anywhere near it. Is this normal to have a sore there? And how bad is it if I don't take the enemas because of this? Bit anxious

Hi. I can't give you any advice on the enemas. It's not normal to have those sores. Keep an eye on it and keep the doctor informed. It could be nothing, it could be the start of an abscess or fistula. Hopefully its nothing.

My kid has been using enemas & cortifoam for 2 yrs. She had one hemoroid in the beginning but it was not related to the enima. The enemas don't cause that unless you have introduced foreign bacteria or you have another overlaying condition. See your doc.
Enemas target the area directly and can really help. If your doc told you to use it see him to tell him why you are not. We aren't consistent like i'd like but my kid won't do it on her own yet and she isn't fond of me looking at her butt. Once she can do them on her own I want her on it more often. Better tan oral prednisone!!

Hi Allegra.
I was prescribed this for two weeks. The first couple of times I used it, it was ok. Then it started to become difficult to the point of really hurting when I tried to insert the nozzle. I bought some lubricating gel from the pharmacy to smear on the nozzle and this helped enormously, didn't hurt at all and it just glided in.
I think it's worth persevering with the foam if you possibly can as it gets right to the area it's needed, although I have to say that for myself it didn't actually work and I'm now on oral prednisolone.

Thanks guys, I finished my oral pred this morning so I'll try the enemas again just to get the steroids in! Quite a daunting task the first time!
