I just started Entocort on Saturday and found out today that one of the children I worked with on Friday has chicken pox. The info that comes with Entocort says that you should avoid anyone who has chickenpox. Every year in Nursery we have a run of children who get chickenpox. We've had up to 30 children off with it at a time! Do I need to worry about it? I had chickenpox as a child
Thanks
Sam

I don't know, Sam. I just looked at my Entocort info and it says "Avoid contact with people who have infections such as colds, chickenpox, measles, or tuberculosis. Tell your doctor right away if you have contact with anyone who has these infections."

I would wager a guess that, since you've only just started Entocort a couple of days ago, it probably hasn't had a chance to lower your immune system greatly yet. But I honestly don't know for sure - probably a call to your doctor would be best, so that you know for sure.

Hiya Sam

this happened to me whilst on Entocort too, and the advice from the gastro and my GP was if you've had it as a child, you will have built up enough immunity to it and should be ok, and I was!
Don't worry about it, but this should be written up in a Risk Assessment at work for all colleagues to be aware and know about!

I got the three day measels this way! And it's an experience when your 30 years old, but I had been on Entocort as well as prednisone for 4 years beforehand. And I had been on and off pred and Azathioprine, so I was really immunosuppressed when it happened. It wasn't any worse that when you're a kid and get them, just a pain in the butt when you're older lol.

I think the main worry with oldies is shingles! That is excruciating pain I believe!

Thanks for all your quick response! :) I wasn't too worried but wanted to check it through with my forum buddies as I knew some of you would have some knowledge about it.
Joan - do you mean I need a risk assessment?
