My son has been on Entocort for about 10 days and is experiencing pretty significant nausea. Dr prescribed compazine. It helped but I wanted to know if this is a normal side affect and if anyone had suggestions. Thanks !

Yes, it looks like nausea is a common side effect of Entocort.

Entocort EC (budesonide) is used to treat mild to moderate Crohn's disease... Common side effects include nausea, heartburn, and headache.

Did the Compazine do anything for your son's nausea? I ask, because some people don't do well on Compazine. If it doesn't help with your son's nausea, I would ask if he could try Zofran (ondansetron) instead. Did the doctor say if the side effects might go away?

Hi Cat I didn't speak directly to dr...just called office and asked for some zofran but they prescribed compazine. It does seem to help. I told him to make sure he takes the Entocort the same time everyday and to eat something beforehand. It does appear to be helping him quite a bit. No bleeding in a week...we shall see !
