I didn't see anything on this topic, so...

My doctor recently put me on Entocort. I take three 3mp capsuals a day. Its actually kind of helping, but since I started taking it I havent been able to sleep well. I've been falling asleep at 1:30am at the earliest, and waking up at 5:30-six. This is really not normal for me, and I am at the point where when I sit down to read I fall asleep.

Has anyone else had this complication?

According to the Wikipedia site the following side effects are common:

Budesonide/Entocort may cause:

nose irritation or burning
bleeding or sores in the nose
lightheadedness
upset stomach
cough
hoarseness
dry mouth
In addition the following should be reported:

Immediately if difficulty breathing or swelling of the face
white patches in the throat, mouth, or nose
irregular menstrual periods
severe acne

I took Entocort right at the beginning, just after my diagnosis for about 2 months and I liked it, I had no strange side effects and was quite pissed off when my doc changed my meds to Prednisolone instead. Sorry I couldn't be more help

Hm. Thanks for the information. :) Yeah, its working suprisingly well. Hopefully I'll get to stay on it awhile.

While I had no sleep problems while on it, I think as a corticosteroid (like prednisone) it can definately affect sleep. It is a weaker type, but it can still cause symptoms in people. So do not worry about it and try and work around this problem by going to bed earlier or giving yourself a time to nap during the day.
