Hi all,

I have been told to go off Entocort for 3 weeks to get immunised for chicken pox and then will be put onto Imuran.

Anyone gone cold turkey off Entocort and have any tips for over the counter med's for the flare up which is bound to occur?

Hi, welcome to the forum. What dosage of Entocort are you on right now? I went from 6 mg to nothing - the first time I tried it, I got some mild symptoms back, so my GI put me back on 6 mg for another couple of months. The second time I went from 6 mg to zero, it was fine. I haven't gone from 9 mg to zero but I would imagine that would be a little bit more difficult. Ideally you should taper from 9 mg to 6 mg and then to 3 mg before stopping, although it's common to go from 9 mg to 6 mg to nothing.

Entocort cold turkey

Thanks for your response. I have gone from 6 mg for the last 4 months to nothing in the last few days.

I had an iron infusion this morning and feeling a bit nauseous - I am presuming that is normal.

I may be able to go on 20mg of prednisone in a few weeks time. Its the interim which is concerning me, as I am quite busy with work in the meantime and a flare up is likely without the entocort.
