Hey folks,

Since my hospitalization things have been going great. I've still been on Entocort, for about 3 months now. Last week I started breaking with acne on my chest and back. This isn't my usual acne, it's more clustered, and now it's starting on my forehead. I know that Entocort is supposed to have less of the side effects than something like Prednisone. Has anyone else encountered this? What do I do? Shall I have to endure looking like crap to stay "healthy?"

Thanks

Hi 2young,

I am on prednisolone at the minute and have joined the steroid induced acne club if its any consolation to you and I am 38!! ;-)

I agree the Entocort is supposed to have less side effects and hopefully will do for you. The light at the end of the tunnel will be you will reduce the steroids at some point and your skin will clear again. Mine usually does.

Ask your doc or nurse if they have any ideas as to what you could use in the meantime to calm it down.

Just wanted to let you know am thinking of you. I know how hard it can be when conscious of how you look or folk point out something you already know about!!

Was on Entocort for a month, then went on prednisolone for 10 days (due to flareup).
Caused me acne over forehead and chest.

Welcome to the club.
At least looks are not everything...

Oh: if you feel good about yourself, others will feel good about you.
Build self-confidence: friends care more about what is inside you, not what is outside :)

Entocort does have a lower incidence of side effects that Prednisone but it is still a steroid medication. It is generally only used for a 12 week period during initial treatment. Normally, you would be starting to come off it and switch to one of the mesalamine formulations about now.

I just got put on this Med. I haven't even picked it up from Pharmacy. What do I have to look forward to besides Zits

Hopefully better health Shoeless! Yes there are side effects with all the meds we take but they are short lived and usually resolved as you come down off them gradually.

If you are talking about Entrocort (sp?) then the side effects are usually less than prednisolone as it targets the gut where as pred acts throughout the body - systemically.

Hope you feel better soon...

You will get there Shoeless, hang in there.

Don't forget to yell if you need to!

Thinking of you.
