Hi,
I have been diagnosed with Crohns since Feb 09... I am currently on Entocort and Azathiropene (sp!! dont have mneds in fron of me to see how it is spelt LOL) ANYWAY i was on citalopram (anti -depressant) then went of it while in hospital and was coping just fine without it NOW since about 2 months ago i have been havind severe mood swings like 5x a day and they happen so fast... My poor daughter gets so confussed (shes 4) my partner has just had enough and so have I for that matter... BUT partner thinks i dont need my anti dep again LOL i am not to sure .. I hate who i have become and am up and down all the time....Does anyone else get ,mood swings on these meds?? I am going to have to see my doctor i think! :depressed: :(

I think I know what you're talking about. I've been on Prednisone for a few years and I've had an issue with mood swings for a while now. Mine happen from day to day rather than several times a day like you, but they are definitely noticeable. At first I thought it was just what everyone has to deal with every now and then and I just told myself to 'deal with it'. But lately they've become a real problem and it was only in the last week that I made the connection with prednisone. I'm going to talk to my GI about it next appt.

It's actually a relief in a way to know that there is a reason, and I'm not going crazy. But it sort of pisses me off to know that the only med that works for me has so many issues associated with it (I've experienced other side effects too). At least now the Remicade seems to be working and I'm tapering off the pred, but it's going to be a long process because I've been on it for so long. I guess I'll have to wear it in the mean time.

My advice is if it's becoming a real quality of life issue, then talk to your doc about finding an alternative. I can only imagine going through my experiences only concentrated 5x a day. That would def get me down. Good luck with it all.

Thanks RafHam.... yeah it is def becoming a HUGE proiblem for me and my partner and wee girl... i feel like i have split personality LOL it really is awful.... am def going to talk to my GP about it ... Glad i am not the only one though hehehehe

No No you are not alone. Entocort, Prednisone made me Dr. Jekyl and Mrs Hide No I'm not kidding I wanted to unzip myself and get out of my skin. I told all my friends and family off and anyone else that would listen. I told off people at the grocery store and car repair shop. I wanted to cut down a tree
with a chain saw for firewood and I wasn't kidding. And I had just had abdominal surgery. Don't let them make you a wreck get off that stuff, yeh and I will never get back on. I had steroid Psychosis. There is such a thing.
I will only take it to save my life. I don't know how bad it has affected you but it put me in a place I've never been before.
