I know very little about them, but I know you shouldn't use them directly on the skin. For this purpose they need to be added to a carrier oil, such as Vit E, grapeseed oil, etc.
Hello, what are you looking for the 'essential oils' to do as a outcome?
So many combinations for several situations. As said above a carrier is important. Jojoba oil is another carrier. Organic is something you might want to consider.
For relaxation lavender and vanilla can be soothing. It does not necessarily need to be on the skin. I have found using a few drops of lavender oil and vanilla mixed with water in a spray bottle - mist bedding/sheets while ironing can give a wonderful scent for rest/relaxation.
Always ask your Dr. before tying anything new.
Peace to you.

Has descriptions of what they are commonly used for. *Not a recommendation for/against Doterra it's just the brand I'm most familiar with.
I use the orange oil mixed in with baking soda and vinegar for cleaning the tub/shower. I like the smell and it gets it really clean.
We use a lot of essential oils. For Jaedyn, DigestZen in capsules and topically have been felt to be helpful, Serenity with some lotion rubbed in her back is great to help her with sleep. She has used lemongrass for joint pains, peppermint for heartburn, and Lavender for skin conditions. Currently she is trying Clear Skin with the wash and a topical roll-on for her acne. If she is having seizures, or seizure auras, we use Balance and frankinsence. I by no means would rely on essential oils without her 6-MP, but I do believe the DigestZen and her probiotics, Culturelle, have been helpful in getting her to this good place.
PS. Different oils have different properties, and some are perfectly safe to use directly on the skin. A good website to learn about the different oils and how to use them is www.everythingessential.me
