Hi,has anyone got the miracle exercises for us with illeostomys to get rid of belly fat,I'm bit afraid of doing damage, thanks

Zumba.. although it's got quite a bit of jumping around at times, I haven't had a problem yet. Plus apparently it's 750 calories for an hour.....and quite fun.. haha

Physical Therapy.

I did PT with my stoma and after reversal. There's a certain way to exercise that area without herniating and waking up the muscles in the correct order. The general idea is to start with the tiniest muscles and work up to working the bigger sets because the smaller muscles help support the bigger more powerful muscles. This enables you to safely use the bigger muscles without herniating.

I use to work out with my bag (stoma) and it never bothered me, I would get a leaky bag sometimes but that was it...lol

I was wondering when it's going to be safe for me to start doing Ju-Jitsu again now I've had my reversal op. I miss throwing round guys three times my size.

I've actually got a hernia round stoma so am bit cautious,I'm still active as am cleaner at hospital and ride my gg at least twice week,I was wondering bout using a ab pro, wonder if surgeon would do a double whammy, bit of lypo suction with hernie op.:lol2:.

Yes! why won't they do lypo at the same time! at least we would get something positive about the surgery. (other than our health of course :) )

I asked we surgeon once on the way into surgery, it was 10pm and I was delirious from waiting, nurse told me at 7 am that I was going to surgery soon! I requested a tummy tuck, butt lift and boob job. My surgeon laughed, and said if it wasn't so late he'd give it a go.

I didn't have any 'requested' optional extras done, but did wake to be told that they had to remove both my ovaries! Would have much preferred the tummy tuck and lipo.

Wow! Was the crohn's affecting your ovaries? Has this caused you hormonal problems?
 anna

I had a dermis cyst on one ovary, and the other had some benign changes. I only thought they were taking one ovary, but apparently at that stage the surgeon thought it best to take them both out while I was open. That was 2 resections ago. Yep no one bothered to clue me up on the hormonal changes. I was only 36 so hadn't really thought much about menopause. I now take a progesterone tablet and have an oestrogen implant. Just something else to have to look out for.

Sometimes I can't believe how much of me this disease has claimed, some directly and other things indirectly.

Jano thats really tough. I'm sorry you had to go through all that at your age. Thank heavens you have your little ones though. It is amazing how much this disease affects us - Its a lot more than just gut problems.
