Do you exercise? What do you do and how often?

I've been flare free for a few months and am generally active (I'm a stay at home mom of two little kids). I've started going to the gym 1-2 times a week, either swimming or elliptical machine for 30-45 minutes.

Pre diagnosis (& pre flares), I was very active and used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. But I don't feel like I can do that anymore. And I do not seem to be able to exercise at all during a flare because it brings on more pain (not to mention having to be near a bathroom)

I was very active too I was just diagnosis end of July I had just run 2 half marathons in May
I currently do 2 sessions a week with a personal trainer I try to swim and/or do 5k walk/run on weekends. My main goal is to have better endurance and to be active and moving for me that helps mentally and physically for me I am current doing remicade I a newbie so not sure what the future holds

I can't exercise in a flare, but in times of remission or minor symptoms I can work out fairly regularly. When I'm doing really well, I aim for working out 4-6 times a week, but those times are few and far between these days. These days I'm happy if I can hit the gym 2-4 times per week. I mostly lift weights, with some cardio (mostly cycling) thrown in. In the winter I do things like ice skating and snowshoeing, and in the summer sometimes I go kayaking (although I haven't been yet this year). I also do a fair bit of walking with my dog.

But no, in a flare or when I'm having a lot of symptoms, I am not able to exercise. In a flare, rest is definitely best.

I am doing really well right now, bicycling several times a week. I push myself on the rides - doing about 20 km in 45 minutes. This has been my biggest summer for exercise with over 750 km done so far. I expect to be doing 50-70 a week for the next month at least. Hopefully there will be some hockey this winter too.
