I'm wondering if people prefer Ensure or Boost, and what their fave. flavours are?
I picked up a multi pack of each, so that i can try each flavour, but just curious what others prefer.
Also, do you drink just the plain stuff, or the extra protein, probiotic, plus, etc?

Well I used to like Ensure, but they've decided, like many other companies that have decided to irritate me greatly, to add splenda into their product. Guess I'll never be drinking that stuff again. :\

My favorite flavors of Ensure were strawberry and for a time they made one that was like walnut flavored that I kinda liked, oddly enough.

I enjoyed the boost more than the ensure. After my surgeries I had to put back on some weight and I was not keeping in much of my nutrients. I drank 2 boost a day chocolate. Sometimes it was either the high protein or the plus whichever my family brought to me I would drink.

Haven't tried Boost but I like the dark chocolate Ensure. I'm really picky when it comes to weird flavors so I like to play it safe. I think the kind I have in the fridge is the probiotic one.

Boost was too thick and slimy for me. My GI said that I could try Slim-Fast because it was basically the same idea of getting extra calories. It went down easier for sure. I liked the capuccino flavor.
I drink Carnation Instant Breakfast powder mixed with soy milk now. Not sure how similar they are ingredient wise, but they have 5 flavors too.

Ditto on the Carnation. You can now get the pre-made single-serving Tetra-Paks if portability is an issue.

Another drink that shouldn't be overlooked is Ovaltine. Couple of spoonfuls in a mug o' soy heated in the microwave is a great late night winter drink. Has some nutritional value as well. Quite nice.

I drink Glucerna (diabetic, lower sugar). It tastes great. I like the Vanilla flavor best.

I like Ensure and the strawberry flavour, boost was too chalky. I have noticed Glucerna but I am not diabetic. I get the higher protein cause if I am sick I really need it and always have a few in the fridge,,,, just in case.

The sugars in Glucerna are dramatically different. 6g vs like 18g. Its always better to put less sugar in. There's a bunch of flavors too. The protein is pretty high also 10g in Glucerna. Not sure what ensure or boost is. Its also got a lot of vitamins in it.

Thanks for the info, so since I am watching my weight it would be better sugar wise?

Yeah I would think so. Calories are 200/ 60 calories from fat

I've been meaning to try the Glucerna - just to save on the sugar.

I have always loved butter pecan ice cream - and Ensure makes that flavor and it is by far my favorite, but I have to drink it very very cold. The order for the rest are Banana, Strawberry, Vanilla and then Chocolate - although Chocolate is great, I try to stay away from Chocolate as I think it effects my gut negatively. I also have the Wild Berry flavor but haven't tried it yet.

The butter pecan is by far my favorite flavor of Glucerna. Though Costco only carries Vanilla and Chocolate right now. :(

Does anyone know how Slim Fast compares nutritionally to Boost and Ensure?...I am just curious if that could be another route to increase calories.

IMP, sorry, i have no idea! I would guess it would be a little lower in calories, as it's a diet drink, but worth looking into! :)

So, i tried Vanilla ensure tonight....Just the smell had me gagging, i think because I use it so much at work, which has kind of ruined it for me? Anyways, once i committed myself and just chugged it, i guess it wasn't too bad. I'll deffinately try the other flavours in hopes that i find one i enjoy. Does leave a bit of a bad aftertaste though!

Mmmmm, Ensure breath -my FAV! Mint anyone?

I tried the Wild Berries flavor at lunch. Eh - not super - I'd rather have my butter pecan, but if I had to stay on only Ensure for weeks at a time I could see the need for variation.

IMP - for me - I couldn't do the Slimfast simply because it has milk in it. Lactose and I aren't getting along at present.

MY GI said it was a fine substitute.
It's only a diet aid of you use it as a meal replacement. If you use it as a supplement, it is the same idea as Boost and Ensure.
