A few weeks to a month ago I posted about my father being diagnosed with Crohn's/UC in the "Your Story" section of this forum.
Well, they tried everything from Prednisone to Remicade and nothing seemed to help. Eventually, they put him on a TPN Feeder because he couldn't process anything through his digestive system. He lost close to 40lbs. and got very weak and while at the hospital, had a blood clot which left him partially blind in one eye.
The doctors decided to do a colectomy. He was discharged with a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitus (even though I'm pretty positive it is Crohn's because of the fact he his prone to other autoimmune disorders like psoriasis and if they diagnose him with UC, removing the colon would essentially "cure" him).
When he was discharged, he had to go to a rehabilitative care facility because he could no longer walk after the surgery (???). He's been having trouble moving his feet and toes. WTH? Why would he have this problem all of the sudden (unless someone nicked a nerve during the surgery)? He was healthy before this whole bout of UC/CD (He's never had any problems like this and he's 72!)
Then, after the second day, they tell my mom his stitches are coming out and since he was immobile, she paid over $200 to have their medical transport van take him to his surgeon to examine him. When he got there, he looked at him and sent him back because he was fine! :ymad:
I am just so upset about the care that he's gotten, and the fact that since he went into their care (the hospital and the rehab facility), his quality of life has been severely diminished.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm pretty upset about this whole thing is panning out.
