I'm just having a little rant to thoese who will understand my pain :(

I am so angered with my doctors for not believing that I am in pain and discomfort. They will not investigate and are throwing stupid diagnoses at me like acid reflux and gastroentritis! I know I have IBD and I just want help to control my pains and discomfort. It's so unfair.

How did you guys get your doctors to test you? What did you say? Or what symptoms did you raise to warrant an investigation?

My Blood tests show severe inflammation, I have a family history of Crohn's.. I have all the symptoms! What else do they want??!!!

This most recent time , I told them my system was inflamed. My tests came out clear. I told them that I had had about three black stools. They are going to run the tests again.

At least your doctors listen. I was just pooing pure blood. That is not right and my whole stomach/abdomen feels bruised and burnt. I'm suffering and apparently it's acid reflux or some crap!!!

Socialized medicine is horrible. It's here now too and its only getting worse. Anyways, I think I would be adamant about getting a colonoscopy done if you haven't already. That should show a lot.

Rocky Robin you have to go in kicking screaming, tell them if they don't sort you out you will sue for medical negligence. The doctors may listen then, harsh tactics I know but you can't go on like this. Best of luck n best wishes..

I once went into the ER literally kicking and screaming on the floor because the hospital sucked so bad. the police tried to get me to stand up etc. but I got what I wanted. there were many illegal aliens in front of me for the Nth time and I was in pain and needed answers. Was tired of being put off and getting nothing.

@Mandyk- I think you are right, I literally did it but I also pushed for tests so many times and eventually wound up with quality doctors so yeah, sometimes you have to be forceful.

Hang in there. Maybe you can get a second opinion. I was lucky to have someone listen to my symptoms and I feel as though it was helpful to not feel stress from not feeling as though the doctor was not knowledgable. Have you any other options? Stay strong!

Rocky Robin that sounds terrible. Can you ask to see a different doctor? I'm currently waiting on a date for a colonoscopy. Been to see my doctor numerous times in the last five months with chronic abdominal pain and bowel problems. Didn't take me serious until I passed blood but even then didn't seem entirely sympathetic. She did however ask re family history etc. I would say given your family history and the fact you are passing blood you would be a priority case.

As you are based in the UK, you are obviously going through the NHS. Under the NHS, you are perfectly within your rights to request a second or even third opinion from a doctor or specialist. I think you need to find somebody that listens to you, because bleeding is NOT right. You do not want it to get to the stage of blacking out or losing so much weight that you may as well disappear. I know 2 people that this happened to before they were taken seriously. However, there are much more optimistic cases that I have heard. Just get yourself a referral to a specialist and tell them your symptoms. In the best case scenario, and what happened for me (my symptoms are nowhere near as extreme as yours) was I got an ultrasound and colonoscopy almost straight away. Good luck.

Hello All,

I've seen at least 5 doctors, spoken to a few on the phone too and only one of them said he thinks I have IBD. However he is an emergency doctor and cannot help me! The rest said I had gastroentritis!!

I have discussed all my symptoms with all the doctors and they are convinced it's everything else other than IBD. When I asked them why, they said they need to rule out- infection/virus/parasite/food poisoning before they can refer me.

It's mad because I have the symptoms, I'm getting worst, my blood tests show inflamation and my brother has Crohns. The doctors should really just refer me regardless.

Oh and I got half of my stool tests results and guess what... I don't have gastroentritis!! No infection!! No food poisoning! So now I am waiting for cal protection and virology to come back, if that's clear then il get a referral. I'm just praying that it isn't something even worst than Crohn's. It's been over 2 weeks now and I still feel ill.

Are they giving you any medicine to hold you over until they have a diagnosis? It would seem to me that since your brother has Crohn's it would be more likely for you to have it.

They gave me antibiotics that I had an allergic reaction to plus I don't have an infection so there useless! Now I'm taking omeprazol for acid!!!! They are having a laugh. I'm basically just suffering.

Rocky Robin the feacl calprotectin test is one of the best way, s to show up an ibd. So fingers crossed that it shows up something n you can get the help you need. Best wishes. Hang in there...
