Hi ,

just had some blod test results back and was curious if anyone else has normal heamoglobin levels 22 and low ferritin at 10.4 ,one level is going up while the other is going down ! is this another weird crohn's thing !

Thanks for any thoughts on this .

Seeing them tomorrow guess thay will put me back on Iron but soon as I stop it go's down again ,thought after my resection that it would of stopped!

Ferritin level gives an indication of the body's store of iron, as opposed to iron circulating in the blood. So if ferritin is low but your haemoglobin is okay, it means your body is using it's iron stores faster than it can put it away, but your blood level is fine (for now).

The implication is that you are not absorbing it properly. Maybe that took that bit out?!

Hoping it is just an absorbtion problem but it seems to be a recurrent issue and I had it before the resection and was on iron supplemants for the last year, bit concerned it might be another leak somewhere as i have had some abdominal pain the last few days. Dr has called me in tomorrow so fingers crossed .
