All symptoms of Crohns stopped last week, but daughter, age 14 has been running a temperature on and off for 5 days with no other symptoms.

Just thinking it is a virus/flu bug.

Now wondering if it could be connected to Crohns.
She has Crohns colitis. She is not bleeding any more and no pain.
she isnt throwing up, and does not have diarrhea (never has).

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hard to say. I know some kids here have issues with fevers that signal Crohns but I would take the disapperance of all the other things as a good sign. How high are the fevers? You could just call the Gi's office and mention it to the nurse and see what they say. Given how long it has been going on they may want you to pop in to Pediatrician's office and have them take a look to rule out any infection and also because they are more aware of the general viruses and bugs going around. Around here there is a weird fever bug going around independent of the flu. I hope that is all it is.

thank-you for your response. hearing there is a flu with a fever, makes me think that is what it is. I did email Gi....

temperatures were 102-3, now more like 99-100. I give her Tylenol and she is able to eat somewhat.

I'd agree Julie. Sounds like some kind of bug given there are not other GI symptoms. There are so many bugs going around right now and her immune system is probably a little low since she had symptoms last week. It is good that you called the GI though. Don't want anything hidden and brewing going on there. You can't really do bloodwork as the virus would affect the results. I hope she feels better soon.

My daughter gets periodic fevers when she is flaring. But since things are looking better for your daughter, hopefully its *just* a flu type bug. Good luck!!

My son had a fever of 103 last week with a stomach bug. The GI nurse said that higher fevers tend to be viral.

My son ran a fever right before diagnosis when he was flaring. He would be normal all day then around 6pm he would get a slight fever around 100. Then next morning it would be gone and reappear the next evening.

i know all kids are different but I think that seems to be more of the pattern. I would call if there were truly no other symptoms and no one else in the house was sick.

(((((Hugs))))))

GI messaged me and said we might need to run another stool cult., and C-diff if other symptoms come back. I hope it is just a virus/flu.

thanks everyone. will keep you informed

DustyKat,
yes they are. Thanks so much for asking.
After we received the results of her lab work, the fever went away, I can honestly say she is doing well right now. It must have been a bug. :)

hope all is well with you too.
