Hello,

So I'm definitely not feeling well, just in time for finals perfect! I am having weird symptoms and was wondering if anyone has ever had the same...or could help

I'm pretty sure I have a fever, but I don't have a thermometer so I can't be 100% sure. But my head is pounding and feels hot. Last night and when I took a nap today, I had night sweats. I get really cold then warm. I have black stools and the usual stomach cramps from UC. Currently my UC is flaring up for the past 3 months and it wasn't until recently that I got these other symptoms. Also having shortness of breath, chest pains, and sore muscles/back. Itchy skin too. AHH

Is it from UC directly? Is it getting worse and causing something else or does it just sound like I have the flu and its uncorrelated? I feel like the UC caused me to get worse and have these symptoms as well. These seem like the symptoms of Lymphoma....any help would be appreciated. :ymad:

SIGH trying to study for my last two finals on Thursday and I simply can't even concentrate let alone study.

Also, I have an apt to see my GI in a week (SO LONG TO WAIT) anything I should ask her in particular?

Hi, its great that you have an appointment. Could be a good idea to keep a daily diary of symptoms date, time, description. What is like after you eat; how long after you eat; and all info on your stools.

With my current flare I have had a lot of low grade fevers, sweats, pain, loss of appetite. I'd use cold packs for fevers with panadol, hot packs for pain and drink smoothies try to eat things that were easy to go through.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi. It's also a possibility that you may have a bug along with starting a flare. I have that bug going around myself. Last couple of days or so I've had a bad headache that's lasted pretty much all day. I was told to take only tylenol/acetaminophin for the headache and not ibuprophine or advil.

Aura was right that it's great that you've got an appt coming up. Meanwhile, good luck on those finals and take care.

Ick! That sounds miserable. I'm sorry. I don't want to plant a bad seed in your head, but if you are concerned about the cause being something other than the UC or a flu, talk to your doctor about Lupus. That sounds pretty classic for Lupus. When you bring up these things with your doctor it may be more effective to say something along the lines of, "I understand UC is believed to be of an autoimmune nature but I am unfamiliar with these symptoms; is it possible that I may have another autoimmune issue causing these symptoms? I know that they are prevalent in Lupus, etc."

There is such a thing as Drug Induced Lupus as well. I don't know what drugs you're on or if any of them are known to bring about DIL.

I would imagine most likely that you have some kind of a respiratory thing going on. But the things you are complaining of are all Lupus symptoms as well, that's why I mention it. I know it is easier said than done, but try to concentrate on your finals in the meantime. You have your doctor's appointment set up and other than resting and taking care of yourself, that is all you can do right now. If you are doing those things, you are doing the best things you can to take care of yourself. Sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else. But knowing that you're doing the best you can to take care of yourself until then may relieve just a little bit of the niggling stress and preoccupation with what is wrong.

I'm sure you don't need luck...but take it anyway! GOOD LUCK!

Heyy! thanks for the information. I haven't been on a while but here are some updates..
finals are done! graduated! so that is good aced them too what whatt

so I went to see the GI doctor awhile ago and it wasn't too useful..lets see, my joint pain has gotten better, still feel fatigued, have been having night sweats, i found a lump behind my ear...not to sure what this is..still having intestinal problems, sometimes I feel like im going to faint, overall feeling pretty ******, but my abdominal pain isn't as severe
i am on asacol 9x a day, just got a new liquid medicine since I hate taking so many pills but I haven't started that yet because the side effects are diarrhea...which makes me wonder how will i know if it is working!

I am planning on talking to an advice nurse to see if I can get a doctors appt soon...its just so frustrating always going to the doctors, there is always something wrong with me since my immune system is so bad, I feel like I have to find out whats wrong with me via research and this forum and then tell the doctor to see if its true or not ...so much work

I never really put much time into my health, being young I feel like its not that important, but now that I am so weak and can hardly do anything I am forced to ugh

Congrats on the graduation:) Wow, all A's!!! Great job:)

Know what you mean about going to the doctors. Although, it's better to get the info you need when your health is concerned. I drug my feet for awhile myself because I wasn't getting all the help I needed from my doctor. I finally got a second opinion myself this last week and am thankful I did. Hope you'll find some relief soon. Take care.
