Ok I am really freaking out. My doc has me tapering on prednisone and I started at 80mg now I'm down to 15mg. I also have a bladder infection :( what I'm scared about is the past 2 days I've been running a fever, throwing up and having runny d. My stomach is killing me and I'm afraid to eat bc I know its coming out one end or the other! The hemmies are so bad my butt is so soreee. And when I go to poop I have to push really hard and only a little comes at a time but when I push its like something in my stomach is being pushed and I can feel stuff coming up my throat! Is this crohnie related??

xoxava, you really need to see you GI. When tapering off of Prednisone things can happen. That is why you need to see him. If things are starting to block up he nneds to know.
Good luck, Hon.

I agree.

Also, could it be your bladder infection getting worse? That has given me stomach pain, nausea/vomiting/fever also.

I hope you feel better!

Sweetie I think you better get yourself to a clinic or ER, that doesnt sound good. If you are vomiting you cant take your meds. Call the doctor now if you can if you cant go to emerg. Sounds like you are obstructing and that is a very bad and dangerous thing to happen. Please go! keep us posted!!

Ditto what Pen said! It's best to go and not need treatment than needing treatment and getting into a bad bind because you didn't go. Good luck and keep us posted!

How long have you been on 80mg? did you taper very fast? how long from 80 - 15mg?
Don't like the sound of this, please go to see doc, GI or to A&E,
When I got to 15mg all hell broke loose! I upped it back to 25mg and started tapering again.
Don't do this yourself tho, speak to a consultant or go to hospital
hope you're ok

I agree with everything that has already been said. Hopefully you got in touch with a doctor or are getting some help in the ER. Keep us posted!

well. called the doc and spoke with the nurse. she took my info and said she was going to have the doc call me back.. this was almost 4 hours ago... still not eating or keeping food down. i feel very "backed up" but my stomach is hurting like i have to go but nothing happens?? still running a fever. ugh. this is never ending..

The ER might be worth going to at this point, then... Definitely go if you can't see your doc by the weekend.

I agree with Sharon...sounds a lot like how I felt when I was obstructing. The second I started vomiting I didn't hesitate to head to the ER. Luckily I was only there for 3 days. If you are obstructing, it's best not to delay! Something worse could happen like perforation, which can lead to sepsis. If you feel you really need to pass something, but can't, head to the ER, don't push it. Have you passed any gas lately? If not, that's another sign you are obstructing.

no i keep trying but no matter how hard i try nothing happens. i have the worst headache from trying to get something out. i thought maybe eating a banana would speed up the process but it hasnt. yesterday atleast a little poo would come and now its nothing at all. would it be safe to take a laxative of some sort??

The last time I was feeling like this I went to the ER. You do not want this getting worse! Take everyone elses advice and go to the ER and get it checked out. Trust me. This happened to me and I thought i could wait and it would go away but it got worse and worse to the point where I was in so much pain I couldn't even walk. Better safe than sorry. I suggest ER or at least an urgent care center.

Yeah defo go now
Marisa is right, and I was the same, I was just hours off perforating, it's not worth the risk, you are blocked for sure!

I agree with everyone else. Head to the ER. This sounds serious and needs to be checked by a doctor as soon as possible to rule out an obstruction.

Wishing you a speedy resolution to your situation.

Dont push too hard as you will end up with hemorrhoids and PLEASE drink drink drink so you don't get dehydrated.

I agree with the others. If you are not at the ER then get yourself there. You don't want any damage to happen. Take care

Ah!! Ok just tried to go and pushed hard and bright red blood came. Now I have a sharp pain on my left side. Waiting for on call doc to call me. Should I be worried???

Wow ok so doc called. He wants me to have a ct scan tomorrow and I just took some colace so hopefully I can go soon! I threw up dinner and have been trying to hold my meds down. Does it ever get better?? Idk how much more I can take

If you are still in pain with nausea and or vomiting, you can still go to the ER and they can give you IV pain medication and a STAT CT scan along w/STAT blood work.

I'm speaking from experience as someone who has gone through many bowel obstructions since being dxed with Crohn's at the age of 12. If the symptoms don't get better and you can NOT wait until tomorrow, head to the ER ok. DO NOT wait as it could be very serious.

Now you're seeing blood? I really hope you go to the ER. Last time that happened to me I went to the ER and had to stay in the hospital for a bit. You really need to get seen right away. Don't wait for the doctors phone calls, get seen right away before it gets any worse.

Please go to the ER, you're putting yourself through so much pain and suffering and putting your wellbeing at risk by letting things go for this long. You need to get help RIGHT NOW.

Agreed with everyone. I'm very worried. Especially since you keep mentioning you've been pushing really hard while trying to go. Imagine trying to push something through a tiny hole the size of a pea, or maybe even smaller! Laxatives and pushing harder will not solve your problem, but only put you at risk for perforation. I am surprised your doc is making you wait. You're body is throwing up because it knows there's no where for it to go in the intestines!

I hope you're doing alright today - either you made it to your CT scan or you went ahead and went to the ER! :(

Yeah you gotta go NOW!
vomiting is a sure sign of obstruction, there is no where for this to go!
You'll still get your scan, but you'll need some IV today.
I've been thro this, it's not good, it's fatal!
hope you're ok?

Update! Horrible night. Just left hospital had ct scan with the constrast, blood work and stool samples. As soon as the ct was done I threw up all the constrast ew! Now I am waitin for the doc to tell me what's going on. Still haven't eaten and have the pain and nothing but blood comes out!

Thinking about you! So sorry to hear you're feeling terrible still. I'm still surprised they let you LEAVE the hospital!! Anyone else baffled by this?? Really hope they find something out and get you feeling better. Hang in there!

My experience is that CT scan results come back in about an hour, or at least they did when I had a scan. I would be on the phone right now trying to get those results if I were you (and I agree with Marisa and GW, I wouldn't have left the hospital). If you don't get the results back immediately, please just go back to the hospital and scream and cry until they admit you. You can't keep going on like this.

CT scan results come back w/in an hr. here where I live as well. If coming through the ER w/a probable bowel obstruction, it comes back sooner when done with an xray as well.

Get on the phone and call the MD. Tell his answering service that you're very ill & that you are going back to the ER. Have your MD call in some orders for you. Don't wait.

Ughhhhh. So doc got results from ct and it was normal no onflammation or anything. Wtf? Now I'm getting frustrated why am I so sick if its normal??!

I would be demanding further testing. There has to be a reason you're feeling so terrible. The blood and vomiting is especially a concern to me.

Just because the CT Scan result is normal it doesn't mean there is nothing wrong. Roo's CT was grossly normal 1 week before she had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel. Her bowel was a mess and it certainly didn't happen in a week!

Okkk. So. Hm. Beyond frustrated at this point. Doc says no inflammation just a ton of ulcers on the ct. My first doc thought it was early crohns n started meds. Then this doc thought it wasn't crohns. Now he thinks I'm showing features of early crohns. Is it so much to ask for an answer so I can live a life :/ thank you guys for all your support. It seems like your the only ones I can turn to bc no one else seems to understand

So you have ulcers? I would say that is an abnormal CT! Have you had a colonoscopy and had biopsies taken? That should determine if the ulcers are due to Crohn's or not.

Yes my first doc did colonoscopy in june and took 30 biopsies but they all came back inconclusive

You need a new medical team. too many non-conclusive results while you are having ulcers, blood, D and pain. Dont put yourself to the mercy of the system and be the capitan of your own health.
I hope you feel better soon

Yeah something don't sound right, maybe go to another clinic or doctor? I have ulcers and they hurt like hell. The cause gas and pain. BTW I too have had clear CT scans, SBFT, tests after tests. It is so hard to diagnose this disease!

Did your doc discuss the possibility of having a case of steroid dependency? Where the flare-up attack back, even harder once you taper prednisone?

I had the same case four yrs ago; I had a flare-up and was on prednisone from 70mg to 10mg in three months, on the 3rd day of 10 mg, I had the worst fever, pain and mucus ever!! tried several medicines for 5 days, and then I was back to 70 mg for another three months!! it was until I started Remicade to have an end to the flare-up!!

I am running out of options!! After three yrs, Remidcade seems not to be as effective as before! Currently on prednisone until further investigations!!

I wish you good luck...
