figure :(

Hey there,
I was diagnosed with Chrons about a month ago and have been taking Predisolone which has helped a lot. Due to the illness I lost around 25 pounds and I cant help but feel more and more depressed about my figure. The weight that I lost has completely changed my body, I no longer have boobs (I literally wear crop tops instead of bras) and my hips and bum have disappeared. Since taking Pred I have managed to gain around 8-10 pounds but the weight now sits on my belly and arms making me feel chubbier than I was before, my friends and family made comments saying that I looked too thin and ill so I was eager to put some weight back on but my body just isn’t the same I don’t feel like a woman anymore and its really starting to get me depressed, my friends aren’t very sympathetic and I find myself getting jealous of their chests especially on girly nights out. Has anyone else had the same problem?:ybatty:

Hi & Welcome.

I have lost 1/3 of my total body weight in the last few months & understand what you mean about looking scrawny.

They still can't figure out what's wrong with me & it's not the first time it's happened.

My tummy looks like it needs to be ironed & my upper arms have loose flesh just hanging on them.

Forturnately it hasn't affected my legs, so I try to play that feature up.

How about getting yourself some really girly lightly padded bras & camisoles ?

Get a Wonderbra! I have never been well-endowed, even before gaining and losing weight constantly from Crohn's. They may be a little expensive but they do what they advertise! Not sure where you are located, but there are Hanes outlet stores in the US where you can get them a little cheaper, so if you have an outlet mall nearby, I would try there.

I can relate to you so much!! When my crohns symptoms started I had a 3 month old son and had gained about 40lbs of baby weight. I gave birth weighing 180 and between then and now, 2 yrs, i have lost 78lbs:( I have no boobs, butt, and my hip (and just about every other) bones stick out. I used to be a full D and now Im not even an A. But I bought a very nice push up bra from Victorias Secret for around 45$ and it makes me feel like a woman again. I am currently on Entocort and starting to get a belly even though I have only gained 2lbs. Do what you have to to make yourself feel better. Good luck with everything.

Hi there and welcome! (Can we get your name so we don't have to call you <3<3<3?!)

Everyone reacts differently to prednisone, and everyone reacts differently to Crohn's in general. Some gain, others lose, some get the pred munchies, others dont... Many of us see wild swings in weight over short periods of time. Most of us have a range of four or so sizes in our closet.

My best suggestion would be to keep a wide range of sizes to accomodate your fluctuating weight and learn how to dress so that you can feel good about where you are right now.

I lost a full cup size when my weight went way down. Good bras always help!

My standard uniform - summer and winter - is a shift-like dress with leggings. In winter I will wear a long sleeve shirt or turtleneck under it and boots; in summer, a tank under it and flats or sandals. This type of outfit has me covered whether I am 120 or 140, and most people can't tell the different - I always look the same to them.

Hang in there - the body changes can be disheartening but learn to work with them instead of against them.

Hi! Well, I have always been what I call an A- cup unless I am on prednisone! Like Amy says, I think we all have a huge range of sizes hanging in our closets. For going out dressy I have these stick on bra things. They add a full cup size and give you cleavage. I know it is depressing having all these changes but it gets better. As you go along you just wind up playing different assets is all.
Good luck and keep coming back. This is a great place for support.

Aw thanks everyone, i think i may spend this weekend investing in some new underwear! My name's Steph, im 20 and from the uk :) x

I totally sympathise with you right now! I've been in flare for about 2 months and despite the pred (I gain about 3-5kg usually) I've lost 17kg. I have been in hospital twice . . . . but as soon as I got out, I ordered me some new underwear!! I've gone from a HH cup to an F :( but, no matter what happens on the outside, good underwear always makes you feel fantastic!! Clothes in several sizes is also a must . . . I have cheaper plain clothes and fabulous accessories as I hate buying expensive things I can't wear all the time :)
Keep your chin up, it does get more manageable!

I put my money into bras... I've thown away too many pairs of undies to invest too much in them!

Just lost another pair this morning! :(

I don't buy fancy panties either (well unless the are only going to be on me for 30 seconds ;) ) for the same reason as Amy. I have killer bras though.

Sorry to hear that Ames. Hope it gets better.

Hi Steph
I buy wonderbras from Matalan. They are usually in packs of 2. They aren't really expensive because they last for ages and wash well. Also i buy a cup size bigger than i am and nobody can tell. (yes i asked)

Isn't if funny how a new set of undergarments can make you feel ~sexy~?.....for me too, putting on my cowgirl boots (custon made snake skin!) makes me feel 300% bettter! .....
