Hi Everyone,

well, after having various mild health issues for the last 4 or 5 years, I've finally been diganosed with Crohns.

My initial reaction of "thank god it's not Colon Cancer" (which was my real fear), I'm now researching and coming to terms with this condition, which seems to have a wide range of severity.

I have always gone to the bathroom more than anyone I know, but it's only been in the last 6-9 months that is have become a real issue.

I was only diagnosed on monday 26th of November, and am only 3 days into a course of steroids, which seems pretty standard from what I have read so far.

I'm looking forward to reading more on the forum and learning from the experience and mistakes (they tend to be the same thing in my humble opinion), of others, and hope in time to be able to contribute to others who are new to the forum.

Much Love

Silver Fox.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I am sorry to hear about the diagnosis hun but as already mentioned you have come to the right place for lots of helpful info and support. Have you noticed any improvement yet on the pred? Have you been given a calcium supplement to take with it? Do you have an appt booked with the GI doc soon to discuss the long term plan treatment wise?

I've noticed a reduction in the frequency of the bathroom visits. I have got calcium tablets yes.

I'm getting a lot more heartburn on the steroids. It feels like a flair up of my stomach ulcers,,,,,which were diagnosed about 7-8 years ago.....could it be that I've had crohns all this time ???

appointment to see my GI dude in about 10 days.

Thanks guys.

Stomach ulcers can be part of Crohn's for some but aren't necessarily. I also get heartburn from steroids. My GI usually prescribes me Prilosec to go along with them.

already really noticing the increased appetite on the Steroids, going for a run tomorrow. I really can't deal with putting on weight as well as everything else. I've gradually been piling on the lbs over the last month or 2, after losing over 40 lbs when training for a marathon last year. Need to get back on the running groove, Crohn's will not make me fat (again) damn it.

Welcome Silver Fox
You seem like you have a really good head on about having Crohn's, thats great! Are you only on steroids? Looking forward to hearing more from you!
