My daughter Rebecca was recently diagnosed with crohns when she had endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Prior to the scopes she had a follow-up appt with the gastro consultant on 22nd Dec.
approx 3 weeks before scopes this appointment was changed to the 26th Jan.
On the day of her scopes, the appt was changed to 8th March.

So of course with the diagnosis of Crohns it was imperative she was seen sooner.
I called consultant's secretary, she was away, called appointments office, they couldn't do anything more, eventually spoke with consultant's sec when she returned the following week.
But then was told the consultant was on holiday.

She promoised to pull out Rebecca's notes and bring her case to his attention as soon as he returned.

After a couple of further phone calls, and complaints, Rebecca's appt has finally been Brought forward to 29th Nov.

At last, some progress as to where we go from here, and the begining of her start of management/treatment of her Crohns.

So frustrating when some doctors and their staff are so insensitive! And ridiculous that you should have to wait months for a follow-up! I'm sure if it were a member of their family, they would want results immediately.

Glad you got the appointment moved up! Hope it all goes well at the appointment!

Hi Rosie,
I am so glad you were able to get the appt moved up. Sometimes doctors offices can be so darned frustrating! Keep us posted how it goes.

I think GI doctors are a different breed! Good thing you kept on them. My son's office always boasts that they see 500 IBD kids...a lot of us parents that take children there think they see too many and that's why kids slip thru the cracks! Its a great office when your kid's in remission. Different story when the bottom is falling out!! After reading your post, I think they all may be that way!

Kudos to you Mum for keeping on their case! :thumleft:

I am so happy that you were able to get an appointment ASAP. What a relief it must be for you!...

Keep us posted!
