Hi Guys,

I have been on Aza now for about 6 weeks and this week have caught a virus I think. Have a sore throat, bad cough and now feeling very dizzy whenever I lay down. Went to my GP who started me on antibiotics incase it was bacterial but hasn't helped so seems likely it is a virus.

I am supposed to be going away in 4 days though abroad for a week and am starting to get worried as I seem to be getting worse not better and I know this is probably due to the lowering of my immune system by Aza.

Has anyone had experiences of catching bugs/ viruses on Aza? Did you have any problems shifting them?

And would you still go abroad? Or any tips on how to get better faster?

Thanks!!!! :)

I have been on it for over 20 years, haven't noticed that I was catching more bugs and viruses for most ot the time (dose was 50-75 mg/day for most of the time). Dose was upped to 200 mg/day about 18 months ago - noticed that I seemed to get more colds last winter, although I think that is more of a function of having a 15 month old toddler (now in daycare).

As for tips - I get the flu shot every autumn and try to get lots of rest and vitamin C.

If it doesn't get better in the next day I'd check in with the GP again.

I would go on your trip. Just keep in contact with your Dr. if anything changes. My son got a cold last year that seemed to last a while and I worried it was his meds. Then the rest of us got it and we realized he faired better than any of us. I think sometimes we assume it is the meds when really it might just be a bad virus. There are some nasty ones out there.

Take care as you travel, and I hope you are able to enjoy your trip!!

((((Hugs)))))
