So I received a letter today to tell me I have a gastroenterology appointment on the 18th January. Iv been to see one consultant who has just been telling me my results for test I have had done. Iv had lots of bloods tests, ultra sound scan, endoscopy colonoscopy and MRI
I was diognosed with Crohn's disease after my colonoscopy.
I was wondering what will happen on this appointment because its my first one with this person.
Thanks

They usually discuss the results with you and discuss if you need any medication, GI are pretty helpless themselves when it comes to this disease, they can help you understand the disease and discuss your results and hopefully help you onto a path that improves your quality of life. They can also help you with a dietitian or any other people you might need to help you.

Hi Nellie!

Since you've had these specific tests done, your GI will probably spend time discussing your symptoms with you, going over the results and determining an appropriate treatment plan.

If you are concerned about anything, it would be a great time to bring the topic up for discussion. Write out a list of things you would like to ask, in case you forget.

Good luck and hope you are able to find a helpful treatment plan!

Welcome to the forum, Nellie456!

I can only relate to you how my son's first GI appointment went. The GI first went over all the results of the testing and then discussed the level of severity of what he saw. We discussed the medications he thought would best bring about mucosal healing as he sets the theraputic goal at deep remmission. He gave us alot of information concerning the med then scheduled a follow up to discuss our decision. At the time my son was on prednisone but as it wasn't doing the job so we were eager to move on to something that would give him his QOL back.

You may want to check out our treatment forum(<---click here) and familiarize yourself with the different treatments available. Also feel free to post questions you have about any of the treatments there.

Also, you can check out our diet forum(<--click here) and browse through others' experience with diets, supplements and such geared toward CD.

I hope your GI appointment goes well and feel free to share any information, or ask any questions you may have after your appointment!!

I always prepare a sheet with all my questions for my doctor so i don't forget anything i wanted to ask.

then we check how i am doing then decide on an attack plan. that is usually how it goes.
