Hey guys I'm Luke. 20 years old and i'm a junior at Ohio State. i was diagnosed with Crohn's summer going into my sophomore year.

I'm currently take Entocort and Apriso but my GI wants me to do the whole Humira thing. My symptoms aren't terrible; i do have flare ups now and then but they're not bad enough to where i would rather poke myself with a needle twice a month.

Interested to see if anybody has had major benefits with Humira though.

Hey Luke n welcome to the community.
I think you would be best suited to check out the Humira® sub forum. Bet you could get some great advice/info in there. As well as, support and discussion on the choice laid before you. Best wishes and good luck! Keep us posted on how you get along.
Is there an increase in symptoms or labs that suggest you need a therapy change? Has your doc been following you closely enough and monitoring you- warrenting a therapy change? What is he basing the change on " IF" you feel your current regime is working?
Hope you find the information you're looking for. - hugs-

Hello Luke and welcome to the forum :)

Have recent tests been done that confirm the disease is still active? It can be the case that some docs will work from the top down with meds to get your crohn's into remission, I have not been on the Humira myself but as mentioned above we do have a sub forum that is worth checking out to get some info on it: http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=59. If you feel that this is still not something you would like to move to then do check out our treatment forum for some other options to perhaps discuss with your doc.

Please keep us updated on how you get on.

Hi Luke welcome to the forum.
I the treatments subforum would be a great place for you to go.
Has there been any changes to your health recently or tests that indicate the disease is active that has made your doc suggest humira?

Honestly i have not been back to see my GI since last spring. Sometimes i wonder how good of a doctor he is (when i see him it seems like he's trying to get me out the door as fast as possible)

I told him that my symptoms were still there on the Entocort and Apriso but seemed to be not as bad when on the meds. He suggested Humira and he thought it would be a good option to try even though there were no guarantees.

My crohns is restricted to the ileum (i think this is where the small intestine meets the large intestine) and for the most part, i can live my life pretty normally just on my meds. I've never been hospitalized but i know i'm not in remission and the only reason i would consider humira is if it got me there.

I think my best option is to go back to my GI and possibly get another colonoscopy to gauge how bad my crohn's is now (i haven't had one since my diagnosis) and see what the best plan of attack is.

Having an up to date picture of what is going on inside is certainly a good idea, you can then make a more informed decision based on this on how to move forward. Also if you are not happy with the care you are getting from your doc could you perhaps look into seeing someone new?

I agree with angrybird with getting an update in how your disease is progressing before you decide on any treatment. Also I am surprised you have had to wait so long since your last appointment before seeing your GI again. Perhaps you could look into getting a new GI sooner rather than later as I would be nice to have one that you have confidence in before you proceed with any tests or treatment.
Maybe you could ask if anyone can recommend a GI in your area.
