fish recipies?

ok so my dr said i need more fish in my diet but i HATE the taste of fish, the only kind i can eat without gaging is cheep fish sticks, which my mom says doesnt count as fish because it is so processed, so does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare fish or fish types i should try that dont taste...fishy? lol. my aunt had me try this one kind with garlic cheese on top, and i couldnt taste the fish but my god all i COULD taste was garlic...for the next 3 days, i had to brush my teeth like 100 times lol!! so plese share recipes or funny stories about nasty fish lmao!! XD

Well, there is a fish stick out there that's whole pieces of fish and not ground/minced fish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTx2yNmHdgA&feature=related

Otherwise, I tend to make my own battered fried fish English style. There's a bunch of decent recipes out on the net for authentic English beer battered fish and chips. If I get time I'll toss my favorite one out here.

Alton Brown has a real good Catfish Au Lait. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/catfish-au-lait-recipe/index.html. I've made this one a couple times and it's real good. You could probably substitute other fish types for the catfish if you wanna use Tilapia instead, which is lower in mercury content.

Another thing you could try is salmon cakes/patties. Again, there's a lot of recipes out there for them And depending what all you put in them they'll cut the stronger flavor of the salmon a bit. Salmon is higher in Omega 3 than a lot of other fish. Pretty much all your fattier fishes are higher in Omega 3. I really like Salmon cakes. Same with crab cakes. I've also made tuna cakes using the same principle and even what I called tuna fritters, which again, I'll post a recipe when I get a chance. Gotta clean all week for relatives coming from out of town this weekend.

Other than that, I like pan frying fish and I have a lot of methods for flavor. I smoke my fish as well, but you probably don't have a smoker. However, you can get good smoke flavor by buying some liquid smoke from the grocery store. It's usually where all the barbecue sauces and stuff are.

Anyhoo, I'll try to post more later.

What about taking a supplement that contains the nutrients found in fish? That way you're not trying to make yourself eat something you don't really like but still getting what you need out of it.

Take any kind of mild fish filet, dip in beaten egg, lay out on a greased baking pan. Lightly sprinkle basil, garlic powder, s & p, and parmesean cheese. Bake at 375 for about 20 - 25 minutes depending on thickness of the fish. Easy, quick recipe if you don't feel like going to the trouble of frying.

sweet thanx and i never thought to ask about the supplement thinggy i will have to ask at my next appointment!! im not sure what it is in the fish he is wanting me to have more of, idk, but right now im tring to find a good vitamin soooo i will ask him what he recomends! then i wont have ta eat nasty fish wo0t lol ^-^

I've never been a big fish person either and had no idea how to cook the fresh stuff!

So, I asked a friend of dads and she suggested the eaiiest thing which we get together and have once a weekish.

All you need is:

Fresh Monkfish (or can use other stuff but she said this was the best)
Cream
Cheese
Salt/pepper

Place fish in a shallow dish and pour over some cream (to cover) and top with grated cheese salt/pepper

Bake for 30-40 minutes (til cooked)

It's REALLY yummy and soft (good for delicate bellies) and has its own sauce to flavour your veggies.

Clearly not good for lactose problems which i am not aware of having myself thus far. Give it a try - easy and YUMMY!
