Hi all, I have been on this forum for a while and you have been really helpful during tough times. I'm back now. My husband was in crohn's remission for a year in 2016. He had a minor flare in mar 2017 and was quickly controlled by adjusting remicade schedule from 8 weeks to 4 weeks. He is now on a 6 week schedule and his next infusion is on the 14th Apr. He has been having some pain in the anus for a couple of weeks now. We saw a new GI since we moved out of state but he didn't do a physical exam and we completely forgot to ask him. Now the pain has intensified a bit more and he thinks it may be a fistula developing. He had similar pain in 2015 when he had 2 fistulae.

He has an MRI scheduled in 4 days, so we should know for sure then. Is there anything you can tell me to put my mind at ease that it's not a fistula maybe? Thanks!

If he feels like he did when it happened before, I would be quite concerned. I waited too long once, and in all probability it made things much worse. I know you don't want me to say it, but if it gets any worse, you better get any doctor available to check it. At least then you would have some idea what you are dealing with. My gosh, I hope it's minor.

Having the MRI is a very good first step, mine went undiagnosed for too long leaving me with a life long colostomy. Having said that I am able to cope with the colostomy, but the remaining complex fistula is still there. If it will start causing more trouble then I will undergo a proctectomy to have my anus removed.

Thanks lovely people. He is doing better today, no pain. We won't have the MRI results until Monday. His Dr is up to speed though. Now it's a waiting game.

It's my birthday tomorrow. No fancy dinner though, we are trying to watch his diet :)

Hi everyone, hubby had his MRI today. He has a fever of 100.15 now. He has never had a fever after an MRI before. Have you heard of this? He had an MRI enterography with IV contrast. If it persists in the morning, we will be calling his dr.

The MRI report came back clear with no active crohn's. Now we have to figure out why he is having symptoms. Thanks for your support everyone [emoji4]

Glad there is no active Crohn's disease, Madhu. Hope they can figure out what is happening soon, Madhu.
