Ive been dealing with pretty severe fistulas the last 6 years. Numerous fistulectomys and just had my 3rd draining seton surgery the 1st week of november. I was diagnosed with Crohns in 1997. Had lots of issues, fistulas, pain, diarrhea, ect. Started Remicade in 1999 and it healed everything for almost 10 years. No pain, no surgeries, was in remission and life was good. Then Remicade stopped working in 2009. Was switched to Humira for 5 years numerous surgeries, my 1st small bowl resection. I had a tear caused by fistula in small bowel. Did a 6 month temporary colostomy to heal my rectum. After everything was reconnected I developed fistulas within the week. this was 2013, had numerous fistulectomys since. Last December 2014 I started Entyvio and its still doing nothing for my peri anal disease. Im on medicare and they wont approve any newer medicines. Fingers crossed I can try something new after the 1st of the year. Surgeon said im not a good candidate for j-pouch surgery. He wants me on a new medicine as Entyvio is obviously not working. We had discussed trying remicade again or maybe cimzia but my GI wants to stay on Entyvio. She did prescribe a new anti diarrheal and anti spasm medicine last week. i might do a short course of prednisone if these new meds dont work. Hang in there people, praying for a new medicine to help us heal these darn fistulas.
