I have multiple fistulas and fissures around my anus. Normally don't give me too much issues but last few days it's gotten really painful. Like they are splitting or something. Hurts to bend down, walk and use bathroom. Any advice? Home remedies? I was diagnosed with Crohn's on May 18th. I'm not currently on any meds for it. I guess for whatever reason he didn't wanna start me ( I have an abscess, maybe that's why? ) but I start Remicade Thursday. He said that would hopefully help with the fistulas.

I have read on this forum someone using homemade coconut oil suppositories that had some benefit for fistulas. Try searching this forum for "coconut oil suppositories" to pull up the thread.

Sitz baths really help. Either the toilet insert or just a regular bath with epsom salts. I would soak daily when mine were really bad.

I use gauze (4X4 inch sterile pads) to help catch drainage and protect my skin when things are really bad and also use diaper cream to help sooth and protect my skin.

Remicade should really help - it kept my fistulas happy for years - healed and closed them right up.
