Hi there,

I am new to this site and it is great. Anyway I started off wtih 4 shots of humira then two weeks later 2 shots and then last week was only one and I did it myself. I know I did it too fast cause I got a bruise and it bled after i took it out which it didn't do before. Now I am feeling so bloated, I know it was just christmas which is a bad time but this time is different. I feel bloated up to my chin and it feels weird around the injection site? Anyone else have this problem because the Humira was working so well before and now I feel so bloated I am so uncomfortable.

Thanks so much!

Hi Jamie! Hope we can be of some help. What do you mean, it feels 'weird' around the injection site? Is it swollen/bruised/itching/numb/hot?

I have been on Humira for 11 months, and I can't say that I ever noticed that it made me feel bloated.

When I started Humira, it took 3 months for me to notice improvements. It could be that the Humira hasn't actually kicked in yet and you had sort of a placebo-effect at first. I hope you feel better soon!

I had almost the same problem, instead of bloating I had abdominal pain and slight fatigue. The injection I did prior to the symptoms did not go normally. After I pulled the needle out a lot of blood rushed out, way more than what I normally experience. My injection site after this was bruised and sore for like 4 days. I ended up doing another shot a couple of days early and am not feeling anything now.

Bloating and injections site issues

I did the same thing last injection and it just so happened that I saw my gastro doc the next day. He said that these things will happen. You hit a blood vessel and it bleeds or sometimes you hit a nerve and it tingles or twitches.

I wouldnt take another dose, though. The bloating happens to me sometimes, too. Once last month I started the day in my skinny pants (size 8) and by afternoon I was in my size 12 elastic pants. No pain just uncomfortable as anyone could imagine. The next day it was over. remicade did the same thing as I remember.
Take care and try not to worry too much...it is bad for our guts, you know.

Eppie
