I can always tell when I am going to have a flare up. The mouth soars takeover my mouth, I get extremly tired and all I want to do is sleep and then comes the "stomach issues." I'm starting to think that I am not quite in remission considering I was just diagnosed in December. But i was so hoping I was. :'(

I'm sorry, Herd12. :(

How long were you having flares before you were diagnosed? Are you currently taking any medications?

Herd12,

It can take quite a while to get into remission. This disease can be pretty persistant.
Everyone is so different and it can take a while to get the right treatment plan.

I just read a thread about Kefir and we are going to try it for our daughter. Lots of good bacteria being introduced slowly into the digestive tract.

wishing you the best and let us know how you are doing.

I have had Crohn's Disease for over 17 years, and I never noticed a patter of other symptoms occurring during a flare up until my most recent flare up which was the worst I had ever had. Even then, it took me a long time to connect the joint pain and severe fatigue together with my abdominal pain and diarrhea. I think my tendency is to compartmentalize each symptom and not link them.

If you can see a pattern of symptoms correlated together, and even better if you can see how one symptom often pre-dates the next, then you can really use your body as a guide. I want to try to learn to do this.

When my symptoms were at their worst, and I ultimately had bowel resection surgery all of the associated symptoms went away pretty quickly ( within days). But surgery is a very drastic was to get into "remission" I would imagine with medication it would be more gradual.

I hope you are feeling well,
Lisa
