I was wondering how many of you have had flareups with strictures but with no pain. The most I feel is expanding/contracting of my bowel as food is trying to pass through.

The scope 3 weeks ago showed a bad narrowing, inflammation and a fistula in my duodenum which my GI thinks surgery is required to widen the area. But I feel no pain from it. In fact, I have hardly had any cramps since my surgery in Fall of 08. It is preventing me from eating fully. I am only getting in half of what I should be eating in a day.

I had a flare and bad inflammation without pain- to the point where I needed surgery. It was really frustrating going into 2 colonoscopies feeling fine but getting the bad news waking up. The doctors couldn't really explain it. But I was basically symptom free. But I didn't have the problem of only eating half of what I should... I only had a couple incidents of throwing up because I ate too much and my narrowed ilieum couldn't handle it.

I never had any pain either. I was a bleeder...but like alexandros, I too needed surgery. That's the problem with having no pain..you don't know that you're really sick till it's almost too late.
