flu medication

hi guys,

anyone every have problems with taking any sort of flu medication?[its always raining in Ireland! :)] Ive been taking cough syrup and paracetamol for the last two days to overcome and bad cold and my health has really taken a battering. The thing that really bites is i was doing great[approx 1 month] while on a gluten and dairy free diet but now my health is back to square one!:ybatty:

I would check the ingredients in your cough med. Keep on the diet you were on it will probably help in the long run. Another thought is you may have other food intolerances surfacing now the main ones are out of the way...

You also may not have flu it could be a general run down feeling due to crohns or sommat else. Have you been checked out by your GP?

I am heading back to northern ireland mid nov to see my parents in Larne. Good to see you here! Hope you feel better soon.

plenty of flu cough syrips have a chemical in them (cant think of the name at the moment) which makes them a bit of a diarhetic.

dammit, its the same thing used as a sweetner in chewing gum! bah

anyways, it doesnt help our cause, i found out recently:D

ahhhhhh, think its sorbitol!

when i get a really bad cold/flu i reach for the flu-strength Lemsip or Beechams Powders.. they seem to take away the worst effects. for coughs, i really try not to use cough medicine as it aggravates my stomach, gives me rotten heartburn, so i use hot cordial, splash of brandy/whiskey, and a big spoon of honey melted into it. plus, i step up the vitamin c.

hope you feel better soon Lucky :)

yep defo going to have to get rid the cough syrup, for some reason i foolishly assumed the medicine could'nt be bad since its purpose is to make you well, a bit like my assumptions about alcohol which hasnt worked out too well either! :)

Got my flu shot today!
I'm going to be on steroids soon, so I needed to act fast.

I couldn't believe it. My hospital was doing DRIVE-THROUGH SHOTS
That's right, never left my car! Felt a bit sci-fi....

TAMI-FUL was HORRIBLE for me. I got the flu last season because I couldn't get the shot due to steroids...
I went to a Gen. Prac. and he gave me Tami-flu...MISTAKE ***
Within about 24 hours I was in the hospital in a WORLD of hurt...don't know what in the Tami-flu is so bad...but my GI said never take it again..
