for anyone who doesn't know, FMLA is time off work to take care of an ill family member or for yourself when you are ill. i have received FMLA for work before, two years ago. i was given five days every month. this time around, once every THREE months. what?! this disease is so unpredictable for me, i could be fine for more than three months. but then i could need a few days off two months in a row. i was given this amount by my doctor, I'm confused that he would "prescribe" that amount of time. he's a gastroenterologist. like, c'mon, dude. I'm gonna see if i can have it revised. has anyone else had FMLA and gotten cut short like this?

Get it fixed. The whole point is to use it as you need it!
I used all my FMLA last summer. Aug to November. I am on short term disability and very
afraid of losing my job. On the other hand also don't know how i can continue to be sick.
I have been out of remission for 6 years.

Lauren, what does your doctor say about you being sick while you are in remission?

Pretty much what he is thinking is, this is as good as it gets for me.

I see my GP tomorrow and will talk to him about the joint pain and back pain.

To be honest- i do not even know how to deal with feeling crappy all the time anymore.

This is from the FMLA guide book, found here - https://www.dol.gov/whd/fmla/employeeguide.pdf

■■ whether you need leave continuously or intermittently. (If
you need to take leave a little bit at a time, the certification
should include an estimate of how much time you will need for
each absence, how often you will be absent, and information
establishing the medical necessity for taking such intermittent
leave.)

I have FMLA to take care of ds
The office will base the number of days from the office visits taken during a month, hospitalization etc....
I just make sure to communicate with the office staff what time I think I will need and why .
It can be revised at any time just needs more paperwork
