You're on prednisone. What dosage and for how long?

You need to be watching or adrenal insufficiency. http://endocrine-system.emedtv.com/adrenal-insufficiency/adrenal-insufficiency-symptoms.html

Take your blood pressure and blood sugar if you have available means of doing so. If either are low or you are having serious symptoms call your doctor now. Not tomorrow.

In the future if you miss your dose at night and you remember it in the morning (thus around 12 hours later) go ahead and take some of your prednisone. Don't go over 60mg in a 24 hour period though. Just half your dose should do the trick just fine to keep you out of adrenal insufficiency.

My son has his cell phone alarm system set up so he always remembers to take them at the right time. Saves me from constantly reminding him.

30mg from 40mg. 2 weeks maybe? It's not going to kill you to miss a day. It'll probably just make you feel bad. But, at 30mg (assuming you're using 10mg pills) taking one of those (I.E. 10mg) should be fine to avoid the sickness if you missed your dose. It would only bump you up to 40mg in 24 hours which you were at previously. Just don't forget your pills multiple times or it's going to mess up your taper schedule.

It's likely too late by now though. You're probably due to next your next dose in a few hours.
