Now that Mr President is impeached and will go down as a sore spot in the anals of history, I have a small pile of ostomy supplies that I would to get rid of. They are free to anyone here... witch a catch. You must make a donation to ameslouise's Take Steps team (if she does not mind) or CCFA directly in return for the supplies. Donate what they are worth to you, but there is no need to post the amount.

The list:
Hollister New Image 3/4" convex skin Barrier #14902 qty 5

I have to find two other freebie kits I got and maybe other stuff floating around. First come, first serve. I may ask for postage for those outside the US.

Thanks, Dan! I am touched!

I hope you can find someone to put this stuff to good use. It would be a shame to have it sitting around without a good home.

If no one has a need for it, maybe there is an organization that takes unused supplies?

Thanks again for thinking of me!!

Unfortunately all that stuff is for wee baby stomas...so is of no use to me. But it's great that you're trying to get rid of it rather than just tossing it in the garbage.

Another place to donate is at M&M Meat Shop..their annual bbq is on May 7th for those that want to participate and eat burgers and donate to the cause :)

I don't know where to post this question but for all of those who live in Ontario do you guys all have private insurance or do you survive on the pathetic 600$ that the government gives us. I am new to the ileostomy world and was shocked to find out that I was going to have to pay out of pocket for ~1/2 of all my supplies if not more. Also does anyone know of organizations that collect unused supplies etc... I was planning on writting some letters etc... once I have healed from surgery but I thought maybe some of you "experts" might have some info for me. My main problem is that my husband and I are both on mat/pat leave so at 55% of both our salaries we don't have 2 nickels to rub together let alone pay for overpriced tupperware bags!!! Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome thanks.

I pay for my supplies out of pocket too since my fiance is self employed we don't have insurance. So I try to survive on the piddly $600 a year from the government (which only lasts about 2 months by the way). I don't have any advice for you unfortunately. I reuse my bags, I just wash them out and hang them to dry and use them till the filters blow on them. Besides that, I just try and make my flanges last as long as I can (I can usually get a week out of one).

Sorry this hasn't been more helpful...welcome to our little club though :)

Welcome to the cool club!!
:welcome:
Wow, if I had to pay out for all my supplies, or even half of them, I'd be broke in no time.

I'd be aiming for USA members actually. (Lost Nut?? can you help?) Maybe start a new thread. The members in the USA without much or any health coverage can tell you alot about saving money and saving bags. And of course our lovely Cindy in Canada as well.

Places to Donate Supplies

I used to have a colostomy & then later an ileostomy. The supplies ARE expensive!!

There are a few good resources I want to share in case you don't know about them already (I can't post links yet, so just google them
