Is there one website which is best to go on to get some free samples of stoma supplies? Or do you have to just tart around?

Sometimes your supplier will send the samples. But ringing the manufacturers is best. They are very helpful, oftentimes being ostomates themselves.

Try:
coloplast
convatec
hollister
dansac
salts

I got my first goodies today but the only thing free I got was more dry wipes and a toiletry bag :(.

On the various websites they have all sorts of creams and gels etc, do these all come on prescription? Do I have to stay with one supplier do you know, I feel totally in the dark about all this, I feel my stoma nurses aren't too great with information.

Convatec will send out samples to patients. I get them every few months as their product line changes for the better. give them a call.

Hollister as Misty suggest is my favourite and I use the majority of there products supplied through Fittleworth as this was what was setup for me in hospital. I sent them a list of what I fancied trying from their website and they sent vitually everything (except for some item that were in hindsight not suitable)

But I have been doing the rounds too and you can also add the following manufacturers or suppliers to your sample list on top of Misty's suggestions:
Bullen
OakMed
Pelican
3m (Cavilon barrier spray/ wipes)
Trio Diamonds (solidifying sachets)

You can go with whatever supplier you like. I use fittleworth too. I just call them and 3 days later my supplies arrive. I've ordered off the net too. You can either call them and ask for whatever samples you wish or you can call the company direct like everyone else has said.

My stoma nurse is often the best person to suggest products to use though if you are having problems with anything. Although once she gave me some pelican bags to try out and it had almost completely fallen off by morning!! Opps!
