Hi, I'm a great grandmother that's been battling Candida for over 30 years. In lieu of meds to kill the Candida, I opted to go on a total organic diet. For two years I ate only veggies and grains. I ate no meat, fruit, wheat, oats, barley or rye, or sugar. Alternative grains became my new friends. After two years on this diet, and a weight drop to 90#, I really did feel well and symptom free. Unfortunately, as is the case with a lot of people who start to feel well, I went off of my restrictive diet and starting eating "death food" occasionally. Occasionally turned into frequently and, needless to say, my symptoms returned. Today, I started the SCD diet because of persistent diarrhea, cramping, bloating, mild nausea and horrendous gas. I haven't been diagnosed by a doctor, as I know what they will do - prescribe drugs or surgery; no thank you. I do believe that diet is the key to optimum digestion and health. I now listen to my body as it shows me what I should and shouldn't eat; better late than never, right? I do food combining also and don't eat those foods that have bothered me in the past. I feel better after only one day-not tired or sluggish.
I am hungry feeling, but that could be proper digestion. Looking forward to this forum, reading others testimonies and sharing the little knowledge I've gleaned over the past 30 yrs.

Hi, Beadwoman! Welcome to the forum!

I think you might be interested in the Diet, Fitness, and Supplements section of the forum, found here. There are a few other members following the SCD and other diets. A lot of members also agree with you that diet is key, but it is definitely in your best interest to see a doctor. You might be able to find one that agrees with diet as treatment - you just might need to look a little to find them.

I hope things go well for you!

Hi Beadwoman I am glad that you have found out what foods are good and which ones are bad for you. I like the way you describe them "death food". I am still struggling with this myself some days certain foods agree and them some days the same foods will have me living in bathroom with is coming out of one end or the other. (sorry if TMI).

With the years of experience that you have with learning what foods to eat and how you figured out what was best for you. I think that you could be a great help for those like me who are still struggling to find out what we can and can not eat.

Looking forward to reading more of your post and again welcome to the family.
