Hello Y'all!

My husband is waiting for the Humira today. It has to be delivered to our front door.
Does anyone know why?

Also, if you have started Humira, did you have any initial side effects from the first 4 shots? How long did they last?

Curious on what to expect.

Thanks!!

They have a strict drop off pick up policy, you should have a pack of pens or suringes and a tub to put your used pens in which they pick up once its filled and dispose of properly...at least thats what ive read when i looked at the humera website

They might just want to make sure that you actually see your package since it is packed with temperature controls. Though they are assuming all people are more likely to use their front door than their side door. If you typically use your side door more than your front, you could probably request special delivery requests through Humira, if you talk to a person and explain the exception. They have always been very helpful when I've spoken to to them. But I would suspect that it's because they want to make sure it's seen and not mistakenly picked up by anyone other than the person it is addressed to.

HI!

My insurance company requires me to use a mail order prescription service only (Curascript through Express Scripts) due to it being a 'specialized drug' (I think they mean so expensive). I was able to get my loading doses from Walgreen's, but Curascript called me urgently after I picked them up and said my next ones have to be through their service in order to be covered next time. So I ordered my 'two week dose' and requested they deliver them to my in-laws house and gave them the address since I'm never home during the day. They were fine with that and it worked out well. The doses arrived on the day they said and my in-laws threw em in the fridge for me.

I think it all depends on what company you have to deal with for your insurance.

Oh and the only side effect I've had so far is red patches at the injection sites that go away after 4-6 days.

My insurance company also required us to use a mail order prescription (Acreedo through Medco Health). Would not allow us to even get the loading doses through Walgreens. They gave me the option of requiring a signature or no signature. I don't have a side door, so they have to use the front door. I would think that delivery to the side door would actually be preferred. I get concerned about packages at my front door, which are easily seen from the street.

hi
it has to be put straight into the fridge, but i have been able to get it delivered to work and my local gp.
ive been on it 2 years and it has saved my life!! hope it is working for everyone!

Ours is delivered by UPS. We were asked if we wanted deliveries signature required and chose not to. I work for UPS so the guy is a friend. If no one's home he would put it in a fridge in my garage.

I get my humira by mail supply as well but when I re-order they ask me if its ok to have a no signature delivery. I always say yes. Just don't have them leave it where it will sit in direct heat all day (even though it comes in a cooler). I have been on Humira since January 2011 with little symptoms. The first month-which was the 4 doses in one day followed by two doses in one day two weeks later, I had a horrible headache that wouldn't go away for about 3 days after each time I injected. I also have not menstruated since that time (but your hubs doesn't need to worry about that ;)) Otherwise, I have had pretty good results, though it doesn't appear to be helping my Crohn's as much as my drs would have hoped. Good luck to your hubby! :)
