Not Crohns, not DVT, rather a badly ruptured appendix NOT diagnosed by my primary after two visits! On the 12th day of vomiting I went to the ER after a CT scan revealed a blockage, abdominal abcess, and a collapsed colon. With open surgery I had a small bowel resection - 20cm of the proximal ileum, lyses, appendectomy, and a deluxe interior wash of course.
It has been a long painful recovery. Eight weeks later I still have periodic pain in the small bowel and remain on a restricted diet. The incision is still sore, bloating is ridiculous and constant. The list of foods I won't/can't eat continues to grow. I miss broccolli and I still take colace depending upon what I eat each day.
How long before I feel normal again? Hm.
I do have a question...My stomach was flat and symetrical before the surgery and the omentum (i guess) is pushed up towards the belly button. So I have this pudge of fat I never had before. Did anyone have this? Does it work itself back into place? When?
I searched long and hard to find a blog like this...glad I found it.
